Last year, when I went to see Mernda and South Morang play at South Morang, one of the things that I noticed when I was having a beer at the Clubrooms was that South Morang are sponsored by the Brisbane Lions and have signage on their ground and jumpers.
What's this got to do with the Fitzroy Reds I hear you ask ?, good question, the reason I bought this up was that Brisbane through their sponsorship money, paid for South Morang's new jumpers for the year for their seniors and juniors.
I know that quite a few of you have some issues with the Brisbane Lions that I doubt will ever be resolved. but the point i'm trying to make is it would be great for the Fitzroy Reds to be sponsored by the Brisbane Lions.
The Fitzroy Reds, like all grass roots sporting clubs need money, and I think that there is a potential major sponsor in Brisbane if it all turns out for the best.
I know that my suggestion will be shouted down by a few because it is too pro-Brisbane Lions, and i'm not sure the amateurs allow signage on their grounds, but I think that the this potential windfall could be just the thing for the Reds to climb up to the top of the amateurs, giving all Fitzroy followers the chance to go to the footy every week and giving Brisbane much needed good P.R after playing fewer games here in Melbourne.
Tell me what you think of this suggestion and tell me if it has any legs or not ?.
