A question about Mark Robinson

The bloodhounds licked up his words like spilt blood and went with the rumour.

I can't believe the cartwheels that the press are making in turning it into a Richmond 'f*** up'. It's unbelievable and it is working.

He and his HUN colleagues have shown themselves to be totally without ethics over the Wallace "sacking".

It's too bad that the football department has fallen down to tabloid infotainment like the rest of the paper.

1st rule of journalism___never let the truth get in the way of a good story

Watching the channel 7 pre-game show this morning, and when they were thanking Richo for being on the show Robbo commented: "It's very courageous of you to be on here after this week" (or something to that effect). You could see Richo was not happy with that comment. Earlier they had Adam Simpson on said that the media goes to far, and players are now paranoid about going about their daily lives, Robbo patronisingly sympathised without realising the comment was directed at him.

Is the man that clueless as to how hated he is by the people who he supposedly reports on?

Yeah, I saw that too! :)

At one point when they were actually talking about the events earlier in the week, Robbo muttered words to the effect: "Well we're not going to go on talking about this", "It's been discussed by everyone" and/or "It's all over now." The camera then switched onto Richo and he almost shook his head and you could see him making eye contact with others on the Panel wanting to roll their eyes.

Dirty rotten liar should be held accountable for his poor journalism

HS (robinson) confirmed wallace was sacked. To state that in a national paper on a rumour is a farce

If you bothered to do some research you would have realised that Robbo came onto SEN and made a full apology and retraction re. the Wallace fiasco, even went so far as to privately ring Terry and his family to apologise to them for any hurt caused and from all reports he was received very well in doing this.

At least he came out and admitted he stuffed up, unlike Hutchy who defiantly stated that he didn't get it wrong on The Footy Show. Robbo may be annoying but he has 100x the integrity of Hutchy who is just a muckraker dealing strictly in gossip and inuendo.

*and before anyone starts I couldn't give a s**t if Robbo barracks for Essendon, that's got nothing to do with me defending him here*

Yeah fair enough, that was admirable of him to do that.

However; I don't think that it excuses him of committing the Cardinal Sin of Journalism. The horse had already bolted & nothing could bring that back.

Yeah I see where you're coming from but what can you do in that situation? He got a bit of a talking to from his superiors at the HUN as well and he really did sound genuinely sorry about it all. As a journo you're bound to stuff up occasionally, all you can ask is that they acknowledge their mistakes and make a retraction, as he did.

As I said, at least he didn't act all defiant and pig headed about it ala that worm Hutchy. That's what seperates those two IMO. Like him or not, Robbo at least does have some integrity and more often than not focusses on events that take place on the field, rather than living in a world of gossip and half truths.

Now all we need to see is the Herald Sun flog the life out of his mistake for a further 3 weeks in the paper.......just like he would if it was a Collingwood story!! Because it is about his stuff up he wants it to go away........you wont read anymore about it!!

Yes!..... They'll say something like: "Ooops we made a mistake and here it is again, oh and by the way Terry Wallace is still under enormous pressure."

Robinson stated today that he didnt believe the St Kilda FC regarding why Jason Gram played for Sandringham this weekend.

So despite an apology to Terry Wallace and Brian Royal, it has taken him six days to accuse a club of lying, despite having no facts to back this up.

Fool me once Robbo, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

It was 2004 when the magic of Robbo first caught my eye. I was reading a post match interview in the Hun where Robbo's subject was Carlton's Trent Sporn. Robbo was full of praise for the way young Trent had kept David Neitz to a couple of goals in a game where Melbourne had flogged Carlton by over 100 points.
Having seen the game in question, it became increasingly apparent as I read further into the article that the player who Robbo had actually interviewed was Bret Thornton.
Robbo had actually conducted an interview with Bret Thornton, yet referred to him as Trent Sporn throughout the entire article. A new standard in football journalism had been set by the man known at the Hun as ''The Oaf.''
And Robbo hasn't let me down since. There have been many magic moments, such as the day his match report failed to include Dane Swan in the best players despite a near BOG 36 possession performance.
However, in his defence, Robbo did have a very plausible explanation.
''I forgot about Dane Swan.''

As Mark Robinson so often says,

''That's crap!''

Select footy cards made the same mistake in 2004, putting a picture of Bret Thornton on Trent Sporn's card. Maybe Robbo freelanced for select cards that year?

Slobbo is a joke

If him and Barrett could * off the footy media would be a little more bearable

And Ralph. But then the next generation of sensationalist journalists will step forward. This sort of journalism says a lot more about us as a society then the individuals themselves.
Don't mind Sam McClure ..... for now

Doesn't seem too in love with himself like Barrett, but give it time

"Let me get this straight you're saying Damien Barrett tries to suck his own dick on a regular basis?"

Sam McClure in a nutshell, loves to derail a good topic by putting words in other peoples mouths.

Barrett's body language gives off the impression of I'm the best in the business and Untouchable
Look closely next time he speaks

McClure at least has a bit of personality as well
