What has happened to our skills and our passion for the game?
(Please don't answer it has got worse  )

Watching a replay of our finals efforts only 2 seasons ago, the commentators kept harping on two things. How good our skills were when we had the footy, especially the chipping around the 50 waiting for the right option inside the 50. Secondly, the passion for the game and the everyone has a fair dikum go for the team, a whole team effort. You look at the squad and there is not a whole lot of difference, but they have lost their passion.

I know that our players havent developed as nicely as what we all would've hoped, yet two seasons ago, who would've said that this "great group of young players" are now just "overachieving average footballers". I know it's not what i expected, and I'm just interseted in everyone's thoughts on this...

The Lexus Centre has made the players soft, meaning that before we moved to The Lexus Centre we were doing it tough at Vic Park. The Lexus Centre is great and it probably does have the best facilities in Australia, but the Collingwood players are doing it too easy down there, and they need a reality check on how to play hard, tough footy, and The Lexus Centre isn't helping at the moment..

I think there will be a big cleanout at the end of the season if this current group don't get some very good wins on the board. We lack pace, toughness and willingness to play for team mates. We have SOME great players but the rest are ordinary and we are being left behind. I really do hope the team can hit back hard but I fear it may be a long, losing season.

I think all is not lost, we have only played two games of the season, and we have been in winning positions against the bulldogs and crows. At the moment it is a confidence thing, the guys are not confident enough with their disposal and in turn we are turning the ball over, or chipping it around the wings. We need to play down the centre of the ground, kick the ball long and start to pressure the opposition defences. A win could change everything, hopefully against carlton this week, would give the guys a huge boost. I don't think that the playing list is that bad, and remember we have fraser, richards, didak and buckley all missing. You put those guys in the side now and at least on paper it looks a pretty impressive team.

I for one are NOT writing us of for the year, and i completely agree that it's confidence, but it's concerning that we have let it drop from the standards that we set not so long ago...

I have a feeling the old Collingwood is back, I hope we can continue our form into next week's match against the Roos.
i hope that that is the case, but realisiticly its hard to judge after one. i hoping that we beat the roos, and really fire up from there.

GO PIES
