At the start of the year i promised myself that if the lions got in the GF I would go down to melboune and see the game........ Now I was wondering what happens with GF tickets..

Do they get sold be4 you know what teams are in it? And does anyone know anything about airfares.( i.e. do they have to be booked a few weeks in advance)....

I could be a bit optimistic here, but if we do get in, then I don't wanna be stuck :).

(let me guess the first person to tell me not to worry about it cause we wont be in the the GF will be a Kangars fan? :D)

Tickets go on sale to members generally on the Monday of Grand Final week. Your club would give you details. I would have thought if the Lions make it you could TRY and get a ticket in Brisbane. They are hard to get though!

If you've got a Lions membership, then prepare to get some warm clothes and think about lining up for tickets. If the Lions membership have a similar structure to North Melbourne's, then the higher category memberships should guarantee you a ticket.

AFL members go into a ballot for 50% of the AFL members tickets and I think the rest are allocated to AFL members with club supports.

If you know anyone with a MCC membership, you could try and borrow theirs for the day.

There will also be plenty of tickets for the corporates or you could enter into as many TV/radio/newspaper competitions that have Grand Final tickets as prizes.

And the last resort are the scalpers.

I wouldn't have thought so. I'm a member of the MCC and if the Grand Final was at Colonial Stadium or Stadium Australia, I would not have entry rights.

I don't think Gabba membership would give you any rights to a Grand Final ticket....you should double check your membership conditions just to make sure. Even as a standard club member, you may only have a 50/50 chance of getting a ticket.

It seems that your best bet would be the scalpers. Or those TV/radio/newspaper competitions with GF tickets as prizes.

That's about the size of it Joshem.

Lions general format for Finals tickets are:

Monday: Full Members
Tuesday: Season Ticket Holders
Wednesday: the public.

For Gabba Finals, Gabba Trust Members get the same ticketing priority as Full Members do.

For Non Gabba Finals - the Trust Members have NO priority, they fall in the 'General Public' Category.

In 1999 the Lions indicated that should a GF appearance be on the cards, the above process would apply to GF tickets too. I would imagine that hasn't changed.

If you can afford it, ring the travel agents & buy a GF package, it inludes airfares, a couple of nights accomodation & a GF ticket. They are being sold now, probably set you back about $1500.00.

ok NO. it is part of the vodka, lime and soda, boutique beer and oyster eating set. :D melbourne supporters arent charddy drinkers. i think they r more red wine people, but then again, not a wine drinker so i couldnt tell ya.

Typical bloody Brisbane supporter. They fluke a win over us and they're talking Grand Finals.

Every year we hear this. Brisbane wins a game and suddenly it's "Oh dear me, how am I going to get my Grand Final ticket." Then, when they fall back in their usual heap ... back to the bottom of the slag pile where they rightfully belong ... you don't hear another peep out of them till the next time they win a game.

Get a grip ... you chokers. (Good one, huh?) :)

Maybe when you can win a game WITHOUT paying off the umpires first, you might have a chance. Start worrying about Grand Final tickets then maybe.

**No Flag ... ever**

Geez Alf you having a bad hair day or something?

Joshem did say he may be being a bit optimistic.

Nothing wrong with someone wanting to find out just in case. Especially when you have never experienced a GF before, so you have no idea what to expect. Give the kid a break. It certainly wasn't any sort of Collingwood slur. Just a few bloody questions.

I agree totally Danni
Alf for goodness sake, stop FJD turning you bitter against all Brissie supporters.
When you live in Melb you can affaord to not worry about going to the GF until you know for sure your team is in it, but when you live interstate, you have to plan well & truly in advance on the off chance your team makes it. You can't leave booking airfares, getting time off work & trying to organise tickets until you are sure your team makes it, if you do I guarantee you will miss out, I know from experience.

Hey Dee_girl9

If the Crows make it - is that offer open to me?????

Don't know how I would go in a Corporate Box though with my antics at the Footy

If we make the finals - look out

We have the best finals record in AFL/VFL history!!

7 from11.

2 from 3 in Prelims

2 from 2 in GF's.

Danni, Mantis and Joshem ...

Looks like my attempt at "humour" went over your heads. Sorry.

I guess it was a bit subtle.

I'm a bit dirty on Brisbane at the moment. I usually carry a bit of a resentment against any club that beats us. I s'pose all the FJD stuff has made my hatred a bit more intense than usual.

Rest assured. My hatred expires as soon as I get to the next match. Then it will be focussed exclusively on Hawthorn ... and Brisbane will just be another club.

Just for the record, by the way ... Brisbane was my pre-season tip for the premiership. And although I've gone a bit cold on their chances at times during the season, I seriously think they are a huge chance to go top this year. I've never believed all that malarkey about them not being able to win in Melbourne. That was bollocks. They WILL win in Melbourne again this year ... quite possibly on the 29th September.

So really ... I'm sorry.

It was a joke, Joyce.
