shaw...doesnt like the physical stuff...a little like didak...

pendlebury...inconsistent...a good player, not a stand out...

dale thomas...another leon davis...flashy...
Way off with these three individual assessments IMO.

Shaw is easily one of the most courageous players at our club, and will do anything to win. I've lost count of the amount of times during his career he's flown backwards for a mark with oncoming traffic bearing down from behind.

When fit, Pendlebury is easily one of our best and most important players. He had a slow start to the year due to (for some strange reason) being played out of position.

Dale Thomas hasn't been "flashy" for at least two years. He's not a "small forward", "soft", or an "outside player". Playing in the midfield, he gives 150% the whole game and always goes when it's his turn.

Anyway, great to see Shane Tuck getting the credit he deserves. If the Tigers had delisted him at the end of 2009 (and there was some speculation that they would/should), I would have loved for the Pies to pick him up. Just like the equally underrated and undervalued Matt Priddis, Tuck isn't the world's greatest kick, but he's a tough, durable inside mid, and is one of the best clearance/first possession players in the league.

I long for the day we start bombing out in finals rather than bomb out after Round 5 , when the only question marks we have over players is whether or not they can stand up September, not whether or not they can stand up in April, May & June or at AFL level period.........the only simian-like intelligence on display here is yours....
...yes yes yes...now thats a good boy pick up your dummy...:thumbsu:...

...tucky your hard ass attitude back inside your nappy......

...and try to take one week at a time like the rfc....:D...

i'm with you to a degree Mario, in that we should never overrate our list. I'm always on the more pessimistic side, let's be honest, we're still 16th on the ladder. And our skills are sporadic, inconsistent and developing at best.

But, I'll also always go into bat for a ball getter / rock. Joe Misiti, Brett Kirk, Cameron Ling, Lenny Hayes, Sam Mitchell, Gary Hocking, Greg Williams, Dale Weightman, whoever. A team can look as sharp as they like, but you still need to get the thing, and get it going forward. Tucky would definitely get a game in my side, and who knows, would prob get seriously looked at for a start in my side if I coached Geelong. Only Lids and Jack could say the same at this point in time.

Loving the look of kids, but they need looking after.

Many players in the league could learn from Tucky.

Terry Wallace, Spud Frawley, Tony Shaw were all hard nut working class players, not the greatest coaches though!
True, but I didn't say all coaches who were working class players are good coaches, I said the best coaches were hard working class players.
Didak, Shaw, Pendlebury, Medhurst, Leon Davis, Dale Thomas, Luke Ball and Darren Jolley are all stand out players (or hang on, the Herald Sun tole me Malthouse is the hero. Ps. How is his 12 year plan at Coll going?)
True Collingwood do have talent, but it's got nothing to do with what I said - I said that Malthouse gets the best out of the talent he's got.
