Any news or views from the weekend's practice matches? Who starred, who struggled, who looked good?

De La knocked of Trinity by a few points, with only 5 players who played in last years GF pulling on the boots. (Second Hand report)

Probably a better test this week against Uni Blues at a ground that has not seen senior football for about 20 years. Back to Basil Bay

Disappointing to hear that OBs, after losing most of their 2009 sqaud have started 2010 in poor form. The worst part, was an unsavoury incident in the very early stages of their praccy match against Collegians where the OC captain was whacked behind play....unprovoked. We know things are not going well down at the beach, but hopefully the peanut at the centre of this is ashamed of himself and that the amos (if required) step in and show some leadership.

The violet crumbles are none to happy about the behind the play hit. Talk of seeking an investigation I believe. If Ginger Megs takes that sort of crap into the season he'll spend most of the year in the grandstand. Gutless and stupid especially as he can play.

I only saw the first half but thought an undersized OBG had the better of the first quarter with the violet crumbles looking stronger in the second.

You wouldn’t be too happy either having your well respected captain received a decent gash on his lip by a soft, gutless Ranga 50m behind play. What makes it even worse was he was pulled into the coaches box after another incident and was told by the coach and I quote "I am liking your hardness and endeavour"

The red-knobs father wasn’t any better with his comments. I think Sergeant (i think that was his name) will get what is coming to him, either from the VAFA or out on the field.

So does anyone have any practice matches to report on? or is everyone playing their cards close to their chest this year?

I'm agreeing with you ott. He threw a few cut lunches in another skirmish in the 2nd quarter. Pity, because the nuff-nuff can play. Never been a fan of Luke Holmes as an umpire and he did nothing to change my mind on Saturday.

His about 4ft tall. Why didn't you get him back on the day instead of coming onto the internet to make threats?

Can anyone tell me how the Old Scotch vs north Heidelberg game on the 10th went?
Any other practice match results?

What is going on down at Old Brighton - throwing punches behind play !!!!

Is this what the new coaching panel have brought from the Eastern Leagues?

I was informed that Blues won this game? Is that correct???

A couple of goals???
After only seeing the first half surprised that Uni won it in the end. Not sure if Mugavin, Shaw, Paton, Paterson, Clarke and others all playing this year because if you add all those players into saturday's line up they will be right up there this year.

De La's run will be extremely tough to stop. This young/speedy/silky side will prove a handfull to the old listed clubs.
De La for the flag in 2010, this is their year. Whoop Whoop!!

Also, Word from the Grape Vine is that the Violet Crumbles showed little respect towards the baby tonners. A source from an A Grade rival has informed myself, that some of the purple pretenders infact chuckled as OB ran onto the field. So Its rather amusing hearing the purples cry, when they infact brought it upon themselves by trying to bully the youngsters early on. Good on them for standing their ground, maybe they took it too far, but it shows you how far they are willing to go to make sure they are a force in 2010. It is unfortunate that the mighty proud OC capt had to leave the ground because of the blood rule, that leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. But this talk of revenge is disgusting, the day is done and the chance has gone. Come on purples, just move on.

So who won, & who was the loser of this prakky match?, It seems that the only loser was the poor mother who had to clean the undies of the OC Capt post match. Now that leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

GO DELA !!!

If De La are unstoppable, how good are Uni Blues if they beat them?

Be mindful of us down at Brindisi street. Rumours have been floating around that Luke Wintle had retired and Brett Collins had left the club...these are not true with both those boys lining up for this year. We have lost Phibbs and McGettigan but have aquired ample replacements in former Frankston VFL player Luke Collins and 2008 Sandringham Dragons captain Jarryd Robertson.
Expect some seriously good footy from us this year because we just keep getting better

God Bless

Very confident statement FG, nothing wrong with that but lets see how De La go against OC this Saturday.

By your report De La should win and win well.

Still they are only practise matches, let's just wait till the 10th.

Maybe you should comment on games you were at rather than publish hearsay. I have no brief for either side but as someone who was actually there your second para is, to put it politely, factually wrong.

Your report card should read "must do better":p

Ammo Man,

How do you know i didnt play?? Maybe i pretended to praise DeLa to throw you off. One thing you need to know is that sometimes things look alittle different on the other side of the fence. What you see, isnt always how it is. My second paragraph is, to put it politely, factually right. Heres what was said, happy for you to mention what is factually incorrect apart from hearing it from the Grape Vine and that they arent really violet crumbles.

Maybe your report card should read - "Confused"

But it is good to see that you agree with my 3rd paragraph.

. Whoop Whoop!!

I read that - Report card = Fail.

I watched the Uni/DeLa game, as usual for a practise match the game see-sawed each quarter. Bursts of good/great play by both sides, De la very similar to last year and as always Uni find a plethora of people, handful gone but a heap arriving by the looks of their clearances.

De La will be good all year, and again as usual uni will be a big force depending of which team they put out on the paddock each week!

The violet crumbles had been on the ground for 5 minutes before OBG emerged and were involved in goal shooting practice when OBG ran on from the other end. Either get a better source or, better still, restrict your comments to what you see first hand.

I've changed my mark, it's now 'F':p

I can do one better. I was in the middle of the ground when OB ran out. No words exchanged from either team, and no niggle before the game.

It just looks like someone put a rocket up OB to prove something in their first big hitout of the year, but the end result is just an embarrassment to the OBFC.

Is Penski by any chance the crying OC captain? Did the Napisan get the stains out?

I did not mention words were exchanged. OB ran through Wesleys kicking drill as they entered the ground, and you think the purples did nothing but focus on the training ball. Okay then, well i dont believe that.
Well it seems both teams were at it, because after flicking over to the discovery channel i also saw the Wesleys big bald eagle flying around the OB guys at quarter time, trying to intimidate their players. To his surprise he realised that the OB boys hunt in packs and stick together. Something the purples need to take away from that prakky game. whats more embarrassing, is that he approached the OB huddle to do this.
I do not believe in cheap shots ( not so cheap if you were the person who had to pay to get the brown stains out of a certain persons jocks), but it seems the OB aren't about to back down from anything.

But enough with these two teams. Both wont figure in 2010, with the purples heading back to B Grade, and OB coming 3rd last.

De La for the flag.
