What would you do to make OUR game better or improved.

I would make it so the commission would be voted in by the membership holders of all clubs as i dont believe in dictatorship.

Three field umpires are a joke, too many i would reduce it down to two.

Any such on field rule change must go before the supporter such as a referendum.

The tribunal is a joke a complete overhaul of this unjust system is a must.

Basically the game must be returned back to the consumer to some degree(did ya like that one ...LOL)

And to end this very serious post with a bit of humour i'd show w***er jackson how to get to spencer street railway station and tie the bastard on the first train back to S.A

There is nothing in life greater, than to be a supporter or our beloved collingwood football club,we must remain united,we must stand tall,we must be prepared to fight for our glorious black and white, for we are THE ENVY OF ALL NATIONS.

Joffa pure gold my friend,

But why should we punish our trains by tying w***er Jackson to them ?? I say make the w***er walk back to South Australia with Colonial Stadium on his back.............lol That will teach the w***er not to mess up Victorian football.

Not a bad idea. Introduce democratic principles to the running of the game. Should serve to make the commision more accountable to its owners (the people)

Sadly, I can't see it ever being implemented - The AFL have to tight a grip on power and will be reluctant to let it go.

Three field umpires are a joke, too many i would reduce it down to two.

The change from 1 to 2, then 2 to 3 umpires was just tinkering around the edges.

The whole umpiring process is flawed. I say chuck it out and start again. A few years back Leigh Matthews suggested a model that had 5 field umpires and no boundaries - this is a model that would probably work a lot better!

Any such on field rule change must go before the supporter such as a referendum.

What we really need is an eminent panel (maybe headed by Joffa!) to go through and revise all rules.

Simplify them!

Remove grey areas where possible.

They are currently too subjective and convaluted.

The tribunal is a joke a complete overhaul of this unjust system is a must.

The tribunal is far too inconsistent with it's findings. A better system is the one employed by Rugby League's 'jishary' (thanks Roy and HG) where each charge is graded and carries a point value.

When a player is charged, he knows what sentence he will get if found guilty and what discount he will get if entering a plea of 'guilty'.

Basically the game must be returned back to the consumer to some degree(did ya like that one ...LOL)

This is a key point. The game is run by the administrators who are influenced by the corporate sponsors.

Now the average punter is the consumer of both the AFL product as well as whatever product the Corporate is trying to push.

We are ultimately the ones the AFL have to impress and they are not doing a very good job of it!

A real topic not just insults.

I agree with what Leahtla Leigh said a few years back whne he quit being the Collingwood coach.

The umpiring system should be changed to

- Two central umpires that traverse the gound along a center corridor
- An additional two boundry umpires. The boundry umpires then only have to patrol a quarter of the ground insrtead of half the ground. These umpires could then make decisions. This would mena that at any point of the game there are two sets of eyes on either side of the play. The central umpire can over rule any of these field decissions.

This would mean that some of the things that us fans can see might be caught

Also if the umpire waited to see if there was any advantage before blowing the whistle froma free kick.

Currently this practise advantages the team recieving the free kick too much. Footballers are trained to stop when they hear the umpires whistle. So if it looks like a free kick is going to be awarded to your team you keep playing hoping that the second play on whistle will be blown. If the kick is against your team you wait until you see the result.

If the umpire waited, sya, 5 seconds adter the free kick to see if there was any advantage then neither team are disadavntaged by the whistle.

Great to see a topic that requires intellegent bebate rather than name calling.

I SUGGEST BRINGING IN A YELLOW/RED CARD SYSTEM LIKE SOCCER AND LEAVING ONLY THE MOST SERIOUS (I.E. BORDERLINE CRIMINAL) OFFENCES TO THE TRIBUNAL. NOT ONLY IS THE TRIBUNAL VERY INCONSISTENT BUT OVERALL THERE ARE TOO MANY SUSPENSIONS, I THINK.

ALSO BRING BACK THE OLD HANDBALL RULE (HAND HOLDING THE BALL MUST BE STILL) AND ENFORCE IT CONSISTENTLY OR ALLOW FLICK HANDBALLS WITH THE OPEN HAND BECAUSE HALF THE PLAYERS DO THEM NOW ANYWAY AND THE UMPS RARELY BLOW THE WHISTLE ON IT.

EXTRA TIME FOR TIES WINNER GETS 3 PTS LOSER 1 PT.

AND FINALLY I RECOMMEND KICKING OUT ALL THE INTERSTATE TEAMS AND MAKING CARLTON SUPPORTERS BATHE THEMSELVES (THAT INCLUDES MOUSTACHE WAXING FOR THE WOMEN) BEFORE COMING OUT TO THE FOOTY.

I'll tell you what TONY. You can come and wax my moustache for me and in return I'll teach you how to speak English, instead of Neanderthal and show you how to walk upright, instead of letting your knuckles drag on the ground.
What do you reckon? Fair enough exchange?

I don't know if he'd be jealous or not, you'd be better off asking him that. But I bet he knows I'd have my work cut out for me trying to humanise a Collingwood supporter.

How would I change football? I would like the opportunity to address the AFL board for 1 hour. I would ask for the number of players per team list to be returned to 45 plus rookies. I would ask for the reserves to be re-instated for each team in the AFL and for them to play before each senior match. This would then provide double the amount of games for Pay TV and free to air. As a supporter you could watch your reserves and seniors play throughout the whole year. Cost of airfares players etc to be covered from additional broadcast and sponsorship revenue.

I would suggest that if VFL Park Waverly can't be sold or demolished it should be used for all pre-season games (practice and Ansett cup)with all matched being broadcast. If we are going to use Waverly then they need to increase the amount of under cover seating in the outer. The AFL should also apply for a gaming licence for Waverly so that they can afford the renovations.

Prices for food and drink at the grounds should be regulated.

The AFL should package their own football shows focussing on the young talent at each club

CJH,

I agree with most of what you said, I especially support your sentiments about the rules of the game.

To put it plainly the rules of aussie rules are an absolute joke.

The game has passed the rules by, the rules are incomprehensible totally without reason and just plain stupid. If the AFL has any plans to try and grab the attention of people in the northern states they MUST make the game cleaner and easier to understand. As a tv sport AFL is just terrible mainly due to poor rules.
