You'd be the only one, because I wouldn't trade for Cousins in a million years.
The guy is an out and out champion

Swans havent recruited a top tier player since Hall & Goodes (luckyish pickup considered he was taken so high).

Its about time we got some star power on the field instead of these so called blue collar hacks (ablett, matthews, crouch, Fosdike)

Who wouldnt want a flashy midfielder who can single handedly turn a game.

If we finished near the bottom and were recuruiting future stars with draft picks we wouldnt need cousins, but if we continue to top up our list with average players then we would certainly have to look at him.

Cousins might be a champion on the field, but off the field is where he struggles. I rate him as a Footballer but as a person, I don't rate him at all.

The Eagles did the right thing by getting rid of him, he was a cancer at their club. And he'll only cause trouble at our club if we recruited him. Is it really worth the risk? We need younger players, not older recruits.

If we need to recruit a young gun, try recruiting someone like Jordan Lewis from Hawthorn as an example rather than a has been.

Are you a closeted West Coast head in the sand supporter by any chance?

Wayne Carey didn't exactly lit Adelaide on fire when he made the move there, just because Lockett worked for us, doesn't mean it'll always work out. Hall was much younger when he made the move and players like Williams, Roos, Schwass etc were never going to be as problematic as Cousins.

Again, I'll rather give chances to our younger players that we spend heavy investments on (draft picks and development) rather than take a punt on a fading star with personal problems.

I totally agree, but we need to finish low enough to get some decent picks. We dont have any excellent talent on our list.

But if the recruitment department continues with their top up policy (mattner, playfair) then Cousins would be a great buy.

Its a tough situation because if we lose games we get draft picks and can rebuild. However due to the fickle nature of our supporters it will hurt financially.

I think we have to bite the bullet stop topping up, our premiership window is closed. If we can rebuild through next years draft, we may have a chance of getting another one with goodes, o'keefe, malceski, kennelly, c bolton.

If we top up again, believing the window is still open, then Cousins has to be looked at as an option.

No just a Swans fan getting a little sick of our supporters Goody Goody attitude.

Swans fans do like to adopt Roos' holier-than-thou attitude which is odd considering some of the past indiscretions of the current list and even more odd when considering indiscretions of past players. Cousins would fit right in.

we'll find our own cousins.

what a great player he was/is/could be ......... bad luck he loves the lifestyle and it don't fit in with how sport is run now.

anyone ever thought about how many others he may have help enter that world.

there's no way he'll be allowed to play again.

Or with him being caught how many kids will he save. With the AFL putting processes in place to properly educate them.

while my bum hole is pointing to the ground ben will play again. and for a top up player he must be looked at although i don't think he will be

rumor

that's all it is

however
if it was true (though i highly doubt it to be)

i would welcome him on board
but with incredibly strict drug use/substance abuse rules outlines in his contract

and at his first breach, immediately sack him from the club

however, may not be worth the hastle but if he is 100% fully away from banned substances, although i dont like him much as a person, i would welcome his playing skills on board as long as he is fit and fully abilitated.

He is not be worth the hassle......to old and we shouldn't waste our time on someone who will most likely to go back on the drugs again

Spot on, one of the things that the swans enjoy right now is that they are usually out of the media spotlight and thus, allowing them to concentrate better on football.

If Cousins arrive, it would become an absolute media circus. It's really not worth the effort. Maybe it is if he was 24,25 and can give us 5 years of service and have a strong leadership group to keep him in place, but yeah, no thanks.

As a club, over the last 10 years we have come a long way (expecially the last 5 years). This (to an outsider) seems to have come from a more disciplined approach from all facets of the club.

Fot that reason alone, I can't see Ben Cousins playing for us next year.

Don't get me wrong he can play and would add to our side out immensely, but he just doesn't fit into where the club currently is and where it wants to go.
