Toast A Swift Return

Hopefully he's given an extended run in the 21 to establish himself. He's a smart, hardworking footballer who has shown(mostly in 2009) just what he can do, he just needs the time and confidence to do it.

As EH has said: if he 'makes it', he'll be our best midfielder bar maybe Shuey.

Was a solid contributor, but still contributed some silly turnovers.

Loved how posters on here reckon he's EXPLOSIVE.

He had a chance to run in at goal and got caught :o

But will be in the 22 next week. Just hope it doesn't cost us. ;)

He lacks top speed pace, but he is explosive over the first couple of steps from a stoppage.

He really needs to back it up next week, Carltanks midfield is awesome so we'll need all hands on deck if we are to have a chance.
I hope he does.

He got midfield tie and lecras was forward more, worked well. Swift is meant to be there, he attacked the ball viscously and threw his body around, was suprised to see his low tackle count because he was around it a lot causing it to spill to others.

His disposal was fine, only thing i disliked was the one kick obviously, considering he was free and could have used his right. I also wish he handballed less, they were attacking handballs but some of the times he could have gone himself and looked up. Good game, hope he gets another.

He needs to use his left ONLY when he cannot use his right. Not when kicking dinky's out of defence.

He seems to try and use his left to really test it out under game conditions, but it is shit so he needs to put it back on the shelf.

Hope to see the replay tomorrow. Hopefully the Chubby will return??

One of our best? He runs to unwanted space for cheap disposals. He wanders around, wont chase the opposition with the ball and looks for every opportunity to beef his stats. I couldn't think of a worst player on the field today.

You don't know what you're talking about. End of story.

Ignorant poster of year.:thumbsu:

Early leader with that post for the award.

Really solid game from Swifty, things to work on sure, but in the last when he slid into the contest to trap the ball getting a boot in the face then recovering to feed out a handball (forget who to) that lead to a goal showed he has heart.
Also the weighted pass to scooter was very nice.

Obviously not the game you were watching. Were you there? I was watching him position behind the play and his positioning was atrocious. And when he did have the ball he was average at best.

Seeing as you appear to be a Cousins fan, how much do you take after him, if you know what I mean...

Someone has to be behind the ball at some stage during the game, Swift did this three times perhaps. Swift was one of our hardest runners all day, only Rosa and Scooter where better for mine.

When Swift was on the flank he would move deep into the centre of the ground, if our players had better vision at stages Swift could have launched a forward entry.

When he was on ball he was hard at it and great by hand. Only two poor kicks for my measure both late in the last quarter after he busted his guts all day.

Sounds like he had a good game, I only got to catch the last quarter because I had a game of my own (won by 10 goals :D).

But I heard the commentator suggest this was his best game ever for the club. No way. I swear many have forgotten that game against Essendon, but even better than that was his B.O.G performance vs Richmond in round 22 of 2009. I'm still baffled to how he didn't get a rising star nomination. Absolutely ridiculous to award Jesse White over Swifty.

If he can just fix the hair, I may become a big Swift fan again :)

To put his performance into context, it was his first full game all year and was still travelling well late in the last qtr. For a 20-21 yr old he puts his head over it and his in close work is quite good.
Can't wait till he adds 5kg to his frame and is able to bust a tackle as that is limiting his output at the moment.

He looked very smooth and steady, almost like Butler. He got ran down from behind again which seems to happen every game he plays. It always makes me cringe considering his knees. Is it awareness he lacks, or does he think he can outrun his opponent? I can't pick it.

He played good today. As others have said, a couple of errors in the last bit but all else was solid.
There were a couple of times where he looked up and inboard finding team mates in much better position than just going down the line. Thought it showed a bit of guts to be trying that when all eyes are on your performance.
