If the Saints win the big one and the G-train says thats enough for me, consider this scenario. Carlton want a top 7 pick for the Fev, we trade pick 5 for the Fev and than on trade the Fev to the Saints for Goddard. Goddard has been slow to come on but I can still see him carving games up for Country in the under 18's, he's been wasted on a halfback flank. A considered
thoughtful response would be appreciated, I don't want to hear Goddard is a dud because if you had seen his junior cv you would know thats not the case.
PS This is not a rumour, There's not much you can do but come up with demented trade scenarios when your team doesn't make it.

Wouldn't be a bad grunt player to replace and release Buckley to the forwardline, big body midfielder to get it out to the fast outside players, but it doesn't solve the 2 speedy mids we need

also sry to shoot this down, but the saints would never want fev around their younger players.. they are way to level headed to want fev... if i can add to the pick 5 trade though, how about 5 for fev, fev to wc for kerr or fletcher? we could even add 21 for gardner if his knees where ok

He has good skills from what I've seen from him. Not a bad idea but I guess we'd have to see what we could get for a pick 5 and see which is the better outcome.

Forget juniors. Brayden Shaw was Vic metro Captain. Goddard is too slow and not good enough 1 on 1. He's the sort of player you'd take for a decent price but in hindsight he was drafted way too high. At this point I'd give up pick 21 for him maybe.

so if you dont want to hear anything to the contrary why post, sudaam?!

The fact is we have our own goddard (lonie) at collingwood so why trade for him! He played junior footy woopy di do! and private school footy that does not mean he is capable of putting his head over the ball and playing the game against real men! he is overated! our 5th pick would be better suited picking up bartel then bloody goddard!

Really good proposal until you added the saints and goddard. I'll take Fev thanks instead of pootruck goddard. He was a waste of a pick for the saints so whats the the point of wasting our pick for him.
Im not trying to hurt your deepest feelings for the guy, but Brendan Goddard is the worst afl player to get regular seniors games in the competition, along with Roberts-Thompson.
He is lazy, soft, not overly talented so to speak and is in the process of robbing stkilda blind. Goddard would fit in well with lonie, woey, caracella, tarrant taht are never willing to put there body on the line for their mates.
Thanks for the suggestion though and sorry for shooting it down, i just seriously do not rate goddard.

Goddard has shown very little at AFL level and I would think your recruiters would be a lot more excited about the possibilities of your #5 pick then getting Goddard to the club.

I'd suggest he was drafted in the right place, but it just reinfoces the fact that 2002 was the worst draft in modern drafting history. Probably ever!

I wouldn't be flicking a top 5 pick for him under any circumstance, but I do think that he's not being utilised correctly and he does have talent.

His team has tried in desparation to bulk him up to semi-KP size, so that he can cover a deficiency in their line up (ie. Maxies alway injured and they got nuthin else). The likes of Joffatoy were bragging about how he was 100+kgs, like that was a good thing!

I see him as a Tuck type rangey midfielder. Strip him of 15 kilos, make him run and run and run, and I reckon he'd live up to his #1 billing.

But again, just hold the damn picks. We can draft our own talent. End of story.

Goddard is a jack of all trades master of none.

whilst his Saints midfielding team mates burn most weeks, Goddard is servicable at best.

l agree with Jedi MarkT, being a junior gun gives no no guarantee at being an AFL star.

if we're going to put pick 5 on the table aim for quality like Jimmy Bartel or Luke Power.

besides, why the ******** would we want to help the Scum and Aints anyway?

Wait, so you've seen Brendon Goddard play, and you want to trade pick #5 for him?
Yes I have Cd's of his carnival matches which were impressive. Played on ball and his kicking skills over 50 to 60 were amazing. Don't foget OUR club took a big run at him when he was uncontracted. I also agree that turning him into the hulk has done nothing for his football. Collingwood rates him and the guys who recruit the kids to their clubs rate him and thats all that really counts. Just because he hasn't set the world on fire paying half back or as a tall defender doesn't make a dud. Or could it be that people are just too impatient in this world of immediate gratification? Personally I would pull the trigger on this deal, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, but it's just an idea nothing more nothing less.

If there is going to be a trade between carlton and the saints it isnt going to involven us a straight swap for fev and goddard would be fair.

I can't see Carlton trading Fev for only pick 5. Looking at previous trades of Key forwards I think that the blues will probably want another late 1st rounder or early 2nd rounder.

Thats of course if Carlton put Fev up on the trading block which I seriously doubt.
