Autopsy A win! vs Richmond

I think Lloyd is cactus when Errol comes back.
Likewise Bice for Roberts
Yeah I agree. I think Bicey, I love him, but as a left footer, if you have lost the confidence to smash a kick in, then you're selling yourself short.

We made Tigers look very ordinary through big time pressure

We put big time pressure on last week - our opponents just matched it, we crumbled and they didn't.

Richmond didn't put any pressure on us, so it was easy to look like stars. Don't get me wrong, we executed well and had good structure, but better teams are not going to let us get the corridor like we could today, nor will they turn it over so much. And we still had an awful tendency to hack kick it forward.

I'm very happy with the win, but there's more work to be done over the bye.

9 more of them and we should make the 8. Seriously though, a decent win but we are far off it this year. Grundy had a blinder, time for Corey to have a spell.

If you're being honest, Hanily, Cor. Warner, Francis, Campbell were terrible. Francis can be excused as he simply wasn't used and completely ignored in his role, AS A LEAD UP FORWARD.
Oh and everyone needs to know, after the bye, if you hold the ball without playing on, you're dropped. Enough is enough.
You have basically said that Campbell had a terrible game off of 2 missed kicks.

Still had 4 score involvements 3 intercepts and 3 tackles inside 50.

Yeah he could have slotted a goal but aside from that he had a perfect pressure forward game

Such a relief to see a functional defensive setup. Mills, Cunningham and Wicks with his recent form were huge ins. Blakey freed up to go on the offense etc. was the most pleasing aspect of today for me. Didn’t miss Robert’s dinking his barely 15 metre kicks back there, wouldn’t mind him tried on the wing or HF instead of Corey Warner.

I don't know which planet you are on but Campbell was very good. If he had kicked straight he would have kicked 4. His tackling and dispossessing the opposition was elite. He has a very hard job as a small forward and he did well.

Hanily didn't seem to get into the game. Corey Warner was not terrible but he is not what we need up there. Makes far too many mistakes and his tackles are soft.

I think Francis can be that third tall when Joel comes back. He has plenty of talent and certainly doesn't lack the desire. I think his only problem is confidence.

Campbell was good, aside from his goalkicking which has just been rubbish this year. But his attack on the ball was everything the coaches would want. He feels so close to breaking out, but in the meantime is doing a perfectly acceptable role up forward for mine, barring his conversion.

Corey, aside from slotting that goal early (which was important mentally so credit to him for that) had a stinker. He's looking tired to me. I still can't figure out if I think he's got a future or not. Sometimes he just does things that make me think "that's a footballer right there", his hands in close are actually excellent and he's surprisingly good at using his body at ground level to either win the ball or at least give a teammate the edge. But then he's out in space which is meant to be his strength and he'll get run down, lose his feet, or shank his kick. I sometimes think he's an inside midfielder in an outside midfielder's body. Feel like he could be something if he can just figure out exactly what his game is and build that confidence. I could see him following a Rhyce Shaw sort of trajectory, a bit of a whipping boy early in his career, hard worker but prone to some pretty bad mistakes, eventually maturing into a solid, tough line breaker with a penetrating, if not particularly accurate, kick.

Hanily was anonymous but that's ok, young small forwards will have quiet days. He's another I'm not sold on but happy to keep him in pending returns from injury. His effort was excellent in the ressies last week so would be rough to drop him. Would give Corey a rotation back to VFL before him, even though I rate Corey slightly higher overall.

I actually liked Francis today. Thought he presented really well, our forwardline looks much better with him up there. Yes it would look even better with an actual key forward, but honestly I agree with the commentators today, there's something about Francis that you just like and I feel like if we persevere with him up forward and let him build some confidence there's a chance some magic could happen. Not saying he'll win a Coleman or anything but could be a solid contributor up forward.

Something very noticeable today was no slip overs. Every other game we've looked like we're on an ice rink, even slipping over on the dry games. Can't recall one today.

good point

A chilly match

The team looked more confident in their disposal than they have of late.

We desperately need some tall solid bodies in the forward half.

Grundy imo was BOG but not in the top 3 for Nicky Dal Santo was weird

Input him top 2 but it was hard to, cos I mean in a low scoring game how do you Ignore Jordon? Mills was crucial too Heeney etc

Ok. So lucky Amartey got suspended I suppose...Or everything all good. Or maybe Hayward being a spud, or maybe Paps not being there, or maybe midfield just shitting the bed, despite the win today, it was a perfect depiction of Swans shitting the bed. You need to call it out more in wins than losses. These guys plays like crap. It's not about the result.

I don't really understand the point you are making at all. Maybe I am tired

I'd argue he took the micky with Nankervis which was a bigger matchup win than anyone other matchup on the ground

McCartin on Lynch i'd put second

Especially after quarter time where he had only 1 touch and 8 hitouts in the first. He smashed him over the proceeding 3 quarters

I thought Grundy should be first or second best imo. But there were 7-8 potential vote getters is all

I was talking about this game specifically. As to the better teams. We won't be able to match them until all our troops are back. But even then I think it will be difficult. As Cox has decided defence is the only thing he wants to concentrate on. Not doing much good by the way. He wants to mould a certain type of team. But you need to have that sort of player that you can mould. I don't think we have them. Our stars don't match up or chase and now you want them too?

Chad, Heens have not seriously followed their opponents for two seasons. The problem is these guys need to buy in. I,'m not sure they will

Cleary ahead of Corey Warner imo .

Hanily probably shouldn't play ahead of either though.

Cunningham and Wicks worked well together, yes it's just Richmond , but there seemed a maturity and comfort in our defence .
