Knocked someone out so I guess has to cop something but the reasoning the AFL gave was bullshit again.

“The fact a player may change his position to some extent in these circumstances is reasonably foreseeable”

Haven’t read so much garbage in my life. His arm swing was a reaction to the ball being there and if the same circumstances arose again he’d do the same thing 10 times out of 10. He just got unlucky and whacked a bloke right in the wrong spot

Which constitutes the grading of 'careless'. Xerri said himself that he tried to hit him, but he didn't mean to hit him high. It's the same scenario as somebody electing to bump but, in doing so, collecting somebody high instead of below the shoulder. The AFL has said for years—rightly or wrongly—that players are taking the risk when they perform those actions.

Is the grading system flawed? Most likely, but it was the correct interpretation of the existing rules. An 'accidental' ruling would've been appropriate if Sparrow had run/been pushed into a stationary Xerri that hadn't lifted his arm to swing at him.

Never like seeing good players miss footy, but it was the right call.

Didn’t Xerri admit that he was trying to hit sparrow in the chest, not the ball?

Xerri is full of shit.

He swung his arm to collect Sparrow. Clearly hoping to get a bit of ball but 'make him earn it' along the way. You know, make his presence felt and all that.

Shit happens. He missed everything due to bad luck and knocked the dude out cold.

It was as Intentional as you'll ever see. Not 'Intentional' under the current stupid definition that he was 'intentionally trying to knock him out', I'm sure he wasn't - but without doubt 100% he Intentionally swung his arm with the aim to hurt Sparrow.

Lucky he didn't get more.

Suck it up. Move on.

I think you misinterpreted what I said. I was disputing what another poster said claiming Xerri was trying to hit the ball.

In the last two months three North Melbourne players have been concussed from strikes to the head with elbows/forearms and the point of a shoulder.

Not once has the MRO even mentioned the incidents.
