Really think this guy is so disinterested and unmotivated knowing he can't get into North's side given Tarrant, Hansen, Waite and Brown are all in the team. That's my view anyway. Probably come over to Freo and turn a new leaf so to speak.

When you aren't in the best of form playing for a struggling North Ballarat is no easy task, aside from being in a team that is dealing with ending their relationship with NM the conditions at Ballarat are far from ideal for player like Black. Subi oval would be much more conducive to his style

Greenwood came 2nd in North's B&F last year, but North let him go for pick 25 because of salary cap pressures

It wasn't salary cap pressure, at the end of the day we didn't want to match the money or the term that Collingwood offered. We have been burnt before offering players a lot of money on a long contract who haven't played at a high enough standard consistently enough.

Might be a bad call, but we have enough inside mid types to over-commit to another inside mid to that extent. Waite and Petrie will be gone in 1-2 years.

He really looked like Jack Gunston in his break out year a few years back, now i feel he just doesn't have what it takes to be viable on an AFL list, he would suit a few of the lower tier club like Carlton wanting someone to fill a void whilst rebuilding.

To be honest, since the early days, Key Forwards have never really been Freo's strong point in recruiting, normally we either payed overs or got a couple of servicable years at the end of their careers. I don't really see us poaching or attracting a decent player even with our rise to the top, i really hope we can just find a player through some good drafting, possibly a mature aged forward or something clicks on one of our fringe players, particularly Clarke.

Have a weird feeling Hannath is going to get a shot at proving his worth up forward. He's def first in line if pav or tabs suffer an injury - but I think RTB 's gonna have to roll the dice and see if he can play the deeper marking target over a 4 or 5 game stretch.
Big lump of a lad, solid hands and an accurate kick - he has some pluses

Nobody has a bigger void in key forward stocks than Fremantle.

True that. And it's why I would take a Black type - far from a sure thing, but certainly still full of potential - if he came at the right price (i.e. very little) because we simply need to find something that can finish off our structures fwd of centre if/when Pav is out of action.

I console myself with the theory that it's probably the one area that modern footy teams can do without and still do quite well IF they are loaded with talent elsewhere, especially midfield, and are very well coached. Whether you can win the big one without a good KF is yet to be proven I suppose. But even there, recent history shows that KFs often aren't a major impact on the big big games (GF particularly). You still need scoring power, and players who can take those few chances that come in a high intensity game are gold, but I still reckon that if you've got everything else working at elite level, and as long as you've got players down there that can convert at a high efficiency (e.g. not how Balla did in 2013 GF), then I suspect (hope?) you can still get it done.

This is exactly what it was. Had a chat with Boomer before the season, and he said the Pies offered him stacks of cash.

I was very impressed with his first half against GC. Could prove to be very handy.

If we pay fair value for him (which as it sits right now, would be our late 2nd rounder), wouldnt say no. Back our development in to start again with him

Is not a pure kpf player and played a wing type role in VFL on the weekend and did well. (He's the only real kpf for his VFL team so don't read into his VFL stuff too much). Is down on confidence, a pick in the twenties will suffice (through trading of picks etc) if his form keeps steadily improving this year and due to his long term contract.

In any case if he leaves or not, l hope he makes a fist of it as a player.

Used to hate chops Sheridan and now I just think he doesn't get a chance. Still, Black for Sherro is an absolute win of a trade for us
