Always the face of positivity Wal.... This is probably what has happened:...

At least l'm consistent. Pick up the tissues mate, you've made a mess over nothing.

Seriously Wally, I think at some stage you may need to give the current administration/football dept some credit and admit that they probably discuss all of these decisions at far greater depth than we do.... So if they think it's not a bad idea, maybe.... just maybe, it might not be such a bad idea. Aaron will play where he helps the development of the team.... he's not trying to get back into the AFL...

Jury's out. 5 out of 6 of our draftees are discards. And we bring in Aaron Davey, Max Bailley and Andrew McQualter.

Interesting off season.

Coaches have to start somewhere mate. I back in the RFC to find coaching talent as well.

Also, great players don't always make great coaches and vice versa.

Davey is only playing VFL, Bailey is only a coach in the VFL and Mcqualter is a playing coach for the VFL....they rnt on the senior or rookie list at all.

Very nice pick up. Comes in as another development coach/mentor/VFL top up player. Will no doubt be valuable in the development of the small/medium forwards that we brought in in recent years. At a fraction of the cost that someone like Chapman would have cost and without taking up a senior list spot for 2 years either.

Its an ex-footballer that spent the last 4 years of his career under-achieving and white-anting his former coach. What does he add that's so special?

- if he under-achieved, it's as much to do with a series of serious injuries (including a leg break) as anything. Yes, he lost a yard along the way, and was never (quite) the same as the Flash of old.
- in 4 years he's had 4 coaches including a couple of stand-ins, so not sure who you're referring to. If it's the Mifsud affair, that wasn't Davey: you're half-right, there was some white-anting, but it wasn't from any of the players, it was from a staff member who didn't take kindly to being sacked.
- as to what he'll add, that's for your footy dept. to decide, but he was a popular guy with his head screwed on, and who takes himself seriously as a mentor and role model.

Good to see with all the off field effort to support Young aboriginals, that we will actually have some more representation on field

Good score to get Davey. Another good reason to attend our VFL matches - in terms of cost & convenience vs entertainment, I might just prefer watching our reserves next year with its mixture of mature talent and developing players. Its just a pity we don't have more indigenous senior-list players, he would be a great influence and support.

Shane Edwards. That's it.

Perfect time to sound out Wilson for a move to Victoria and under the watchful eye of Davey and Richmond for 12 months ;)

Sounds like another generation next coaching placement by the tigers and may finally help us with our problems with Indigenous players coming through.

Another really strong advantage of having our own VFL team is developing younger coaches, and having them being able to easily interact with both the VFL and AFL sides at punt road. Bailey, Clark, McQualter and now Davey (if he is a development coach like it sounds he is) will be with the younger boys at every single stage instead of losing touch a bit when they are at coburg.

Hahaha vfl players and coaches who did u want us to get , maybe Roos would have accepted a playing coach role at vfl level

RFC brains trust: Hey, things are going reasonably well at the moment, how could we put a spanner in the works? I know let's get in that Aaron Davey guy who knows nothing about the game and couldn't possibly give some of our small/medium forwards some tips and mentoring. Furthermore, we won't let him show any sort of leadership on the training track or on match day, particularly in the super-daunting world of the VFL. Yeah that should derail us sufficiently.... let's do it.

Rational, critical thinking and robust debate?

Noooooooooooooo......................not a chance.

Helping indigenous or not, you will benefit a lot from having Davey there, both on and off the field. I wish him the best of luck.
