I believe Alwyn Davey Snr. had won 3 mail medals by the time he was 18 years of age,the youngest to ever win the coveted Mail medal.Hadyn Davey won 2 as well as runner-up in the seconds Magarey Medal while playing for Norwood in in 1972. Bevan Davey won 2 medals for Southern in 1969 and Port Lincoln in 1977.Fabian Davey was another and I think he may have tried out with Norwood. I believe that the sister of these 3 brothers in the mother of one famous Gavin Wanganeen. Maybe some investigation of the bloodlines will tell which descendants are playing now. Bet there are some good ones there somewhere.
Could this be the best football producing family we have seen?

Not bad AndrewJo not bad at all, Hadyen Davey is a top bloke and his son was also an extremely talented footballer all class.

I dont even know what we would want from you guys to even think about trading aaron davey...

i believe he is untouchable though, offers too much pace and class (which we need) is our ONLY crumber/small forward, and seeing Port Adelaide's direction, Dean Bailey will probably need him to help get another star indiginous player at least to our club

Would love Aaron Davey, definitely prefer him over Didak.

Ditto for me.

What would we be willing to trade? Would be a 3-way trade I reckon, as we don't have any obvious players to trade to the Dees.

ha ha ha.....I assume you are joking! hilarious! :D

Didak would be good, Davey would be better.

If Davey played for the Pies, & Didak for the Dees I'm sure your opinion would be different ... as would mine - I would then want Didak...

I personally wouldn't trade him for the mere fact he is played out of position too much (Should be in the F50 all game every game) and he was in a terrible side this year.

I'm not making excuses for his odd brain fade (i.e punching Troy Selwood in the nuts) but it is pretty hard as a small forward when the ball barely comes into the F50.

He's an 'icing on the cake' style player, by that I mean if Melbourne play well he'll play well, he's not a frontrunner, just the type of player he is (He's way too small to win his own hard ball).

Are you at Port Lincoln? Are there any young relatives (18-20) who are showing promise?

Mate i lived in Port Lincoln from 1987 - 2004 and the amount of aboriginal talent over there is rediculous. The thing is they don't cope when they are away from their family so it makes it a bit hard, but there is definately some blokes over there who are freakishly talented.

a year or two back Didak was AA.

davey is in a different (lower & cheaper) class than didak. always has been.

Agreed.

However, I think Davey is more what we need than Didak - a speedy elusive crumber.

I really hope the club pursues Davey. He would be good for us.

Macca,

I absolutely understand your logic. davey will be cheaper, and potentially more attainable. Particularly as Collingwood will be busy buying tickets in the Judd sweepstakes.

however, didak would immediately become one of our 10 most important players. I just think we would be a better team with didak.

of course, that might be unrealistic - at which point Davey becomes a very, very good option. would we trade pick 10 straight up?

I might.

Sorry guys ....aren't we in fantasy land at the moment

Talk of trading for davey , trading for Didak.

Anyone asked whether these players have ANY thoughts of leaving their clubs.

So far all dreamtime stuff .......what is it about ex pat Sth Australians that everyone thinks they're all desperate to get back to Adelaide.

I really don't understand it ?

What type of player are Melbourne in need of?

The way I see it, we have McGregor, Meesen, Jericho & Mattner who will more than likely be on the table.

Would someone like Mattner and our 2nd rounder be realistic?

Not sure what kind of player Melbourne are in need of though.

WW - It's obviously all pure speculation mate, but there is no harm in it.

melbourne need to be able sell the trade to their members. it needs a bit of sizzle to it. pick 10 (say) has a lot more media sizzle than Mattner & second round.

Crow -Mo your generally pretty good in dealing with facts

Where has any of these players said they want to come to Adelaide or be traded for that .......

Nothing in Melb press other than rumours originating from Adelaide being propogated.

Even Capel said on radio today not that there was any foundation to the Didak storey ....just that Adelaide would like someone of Didaks wquality to fill a need .....and after all he's a Pooraka boy.

Well from a journalist that was a good basis for a story ......or is it fiction?

WW,

pretty sure we're speculating on preference. which raises 2 questions:

1. when did anyone say that it had been confirmed either player wanted to leave. it has been confirmed that we'd like Didak - isn't that enough to discuss?

2. when did it become essential that a player say to his club he wants to be leave. again, refer to the 1998 trade with collingwood where the AFC hawked 3 players who hadn't asked to leave (Rintoul, Sampson, Ellen) for pick 3 (Ryan Fitzgerald).

I don't think your premise matters. it's only talk, and it doesn't matter anyway if either player hasn't demanded a trade back home (and who knows they haven't? ;) )

QUOTE]

Agree on that point ......but for some it drifts across that line fantasy discussion to reality.

As we know of the hundreds of trades currently being discussed across all team boards probbaly they're will be less than 10 done tis year.

10, because IMO clubs will trade more heavily this year trying to boost their list due to the soft draft.

If Judd does leave ...that'll slow the whole trade week up and stuff a lot of deals up.

No I'm not in Lincoln but sunny Ceduna, there are plenty of lads with promise but it's a big step from here to SANFL let alone AFL.

True, but it can be done.

I used to live in Ceduna as well, hell hole that it is.

Darren Mead was 2 years ahead of me in school, played for Thevenard. He had a pretty decent AFL career - became Port Adelaide's vice-captain for a while.

One of my own classmates played SANFL for Sturt - Barry Irvine.

I can't believe that people would rather have Davey than Didak. I will be the first one to admit that Didak is my most hated player. Something about him gives me the ultimate shits but **** he is a great little player.

If we are going on a pure level of talent, I would take Didak every day of the week and twice on sundays. Both would fit our needs well no doubt but Didak gives you a lot more versatility. He can be a damaging small forward but he also a damaging midfielder. If I had a choice between the two, Didak all the way!
