AJ struggled against GAJ in the r5 encounter last year and Carrazzo shut Ablett completely out of the first quarter vs. them later in the year. Personally feel Armfield is the man for the job, quick enough and strong enough...better up forward too, would still prefer we send a tall defender or JR to him when he plays forward.

his skills need plenty more work though too, very handy depth player for us though :thumbsu:

I must have a soft spot for Joseph as I still feel he could easily be in our starting 22.
It's easy saying that he'll be back but for the longer one is out, suggests that the others are doing their job, and a replacement may not be needed.

Good luck Aaron and keep that chin up.

Welcome back Aaron Joseph circa 2009.

Great coaching by Ratten to let AJ start and bring Tuohy off the bench.

Loved his run through the middle using his speed and agility to great effect on Subiaco.

Hope Joseph maintains his form and give us more of that sort of run.

Solid disposal if he realises his limitations and doesn't try to play like Yarran.

I came on here for exactly this reason. I was wondering did something happen to him in the pre season last year? I remember loving him after 2008 and by the end of last year he was a shadow of him former self.

I think that chase and holding the ball tackle when he came on as the sub must have boosted his confidence earlier on this season.....

But is there any legitimate excuse for his form slump last year?

Happy to have him back. :thumbsu: courage flying back with the pack to spoil and his ability to side step people, made a few Freo blokes fall over trying to change step.

The Grunt Match Report - Rd 4

On a tough day for the Blues backline, Aaron Joseph stood out among his fellow defenders winning critical one-on-one’s and holding his man to just four possessions.

The Grunt Match Report - Rd 4

Joseph continues to perform well at VFL level and put his hand up for promotion to the senior side.

AJ has plenty of detractors but there's little doubt he's on the cusp of senior selection and is just too good for VFL level.

I have no doubt he'll be in and out of the senior side as the season progresses. He's clearly no star, in fact far from it, but he clearly does things right in the eye of those who matter and time and time again he pushes his case for senior selection. The MC wouldn't be doing their job if they simply ignored that.

It's good to see that AJ has not dropped his head despite not being able to cement his spot in the senior side - he's a hard worker and I expect nothing less.

Aaron Joseph will be joiningGlenelg football club for the next 2 years. He will also be joined by Patrick McCarthy.

Good luck and thank you for memories at Carlton.
I hope he has a lot of success over there. The Bays need some talent, after the 'cleanout' under Kris Massie. AJ should do well over there. If his skills were just that little bit better, he'd still be on our list.

On a more serious note, AJ has been Glenelg's best player in their opening rounds. The Bays have not done well, including a 140+ point thrashing, but AJ has done nothing to hurt his reputation.
Mitch Thorp, on the other hand, has not been prominent.

They did, 4yr old loved the crackers with the dragons whereas my 7yr old was not happy about them (too loud).
They loved the whole carnival atmosphere and the rides etc. They are already talking about going there again.

Good to here AJ is doing well for Glenelg.

Very mischievious, like others on this board trying to show a point.
AJ aside, Thorp has been named in the best on 2 occasions prior to the weekend, and kicked multiple goals on another occasion.
AJ's stats read 18 disposals. Thorp 20 disposals, 8 marks and leading the team in rebound 50's clearly playing a role foreign to him in defence in a struggling team. So over those on here prepared to mislead others to promote their own agendas.

Why did you quote a post from April?

You're the one who is being clever and constantly trying to get a bite out of people by going against the grain.

You lined up Yarran because he didn't win the Grand Final sprint.

Yet you can't take a comment about Thorp not playing well.

You continue to be boorish with those who do not share your opinion or subscribe to your crap.
I am not "constantly trying to get a bite" nor do I bite on spec. As mentioned Thorp twice named
in best, immediately prior to mischievious post I quoted. Why is the quote not relevant?
You have twice posted unsolicited comments on Thorp in unrelated threads in recent times.
The poster I quoted seems to subscribe to your "propaganda" (keeping mods in line need to be polite).
The fact is "you can't take a comment about Thorp not playing well" simply supports my view.
He is playing OK in a poor side, I am not going to overstate where he is at, but will comment when
you and others make off handed, misleading comments that are tantamount to lies. You wish to
represent to those who do not follow SANFL that his form is poor, total unadulterated fabrication!

Yeah lets bring up Yarran again, I criticised his effort, not that he didn't win, grow up. You subscribe
to the view that it was inconsequential. He was wearing the jumper. Could not have won but most
likely second if hadn't turned off. I was brought up to try my hardest at all times and certainly expect
a professional athlete should do so as a matter of course, pride, and integrity.

For the record I am very pleased at Yaz's improved efforts this season, not 100% yet but trending
well. I refer you to regular reference from Cam Mooney and others at Geelong's Leading Teams
initiation which provided Ablett with the revelation he was not training and working hard enough.
This was the catalyst to turn Ablett jnr in to perhaps the greatest player ever.

Mindless support of some and similarly mindless denigration of others by "supporters" is a blight on
our game, and unfortunately in some cases, our club. I am also for sensible debate and logical comments
and unlike others will not burr up, or sook if my opinion is not shared by all and sundry. We seem to have come by a personal rivalry, I will not shy away as you have forced so many others to do. You do some good things on these boards, I have even forced myself to "like" the odd comment you make. It is just a pity that you are more set in your ways than even our coach, and have such little respect for your fellow man.;)
