Re: Aaron Joseph (rookie)

Seriously, this guy's only played 12 games in his career and already he's up there in one of the best taggers in the AFL. Even that managed 19 touches. Awesome Awesome stuff.

AARON JOSEPH (Carlton, 2009 debut, 22 games)

The qualities that are most important to get you a senior game?

Since I've gone into the midfield, it's been more about learning from every game and gathering information off all the players I've been playing with. Playing in the midfield, I've had to get a bit fitter, but those guys have all shown me a lot of tricks and I'm trying to gather all those up and use them against different opponents.

Is there someone at your club who is your behind-the-scenes mentor?

Simon Wiggins. He's a Tassie boy like me and he took me under his wing when I got to the club. He really sets an example with how he trains and I strive to train as well as he does. With him and lots of the other guys, I try to pick their brains and develop my game as quickly as I can.

Is it difficult being scrutinised in the media and in online forums?

Last year I don't think any of the fans knew me. It's good to get that kind of recognition, and it's a shock, but I don't mind giving back to the people that support the club. With the media, when they start noticing who you are, you start to get targeted more by players on the ground. I'd rather people not know me so I can fly under the radar a bit. That's a new challenge to get used to. It doesn't upset me when people talk about me, I don't mind it. I've just got to satisfy my coaches, because that's the most important thing.

The best part about being an AFL player?

Playing alongside "Juddy" (captain Chris Judd) and players like that. And playing against the best players in the competition. You find out where you really need to improve.

The most frustrating part?

Losing. We've had a few close games this year and been up for most of the game and still lost. That's going to happen, but it's frustrating when you know you can win but you don't.

Re: 45. Aaron Joseph (rookie)

Ablett just named him (along with Shirley from the Crows) as one of his toughest opponents. Nice work AJ. We breed them tough down here in Tassie

I'll say, he finished the game against Brisbane with torn ligaments in his ankle. AJ, Wiggo and Mitch, three very tough Tassie boys :thumbsu:

Re: 45. Aaron Joseph (rookie)

fast becomming one of my favourites. love that he has explosive pace but also phenomenal endurance, really clocks up some ks during a match - love seeing the stats when he has the tracker on him

Aaron Joseph
You're not supposed to have favourites, but he's probably my favourite player both as a coach and a former player. I love the way he goes about it. No job's too big, nothing is a big fuss, he never has a gripe about anything and he gets the toughest roles week in, week out. There wasn't a job we didn't think we couldn't give him. He's got a massive heart and a massive tank and we're really excited about what he's going to offer us in the future. – BM

A bit of a possible Harvey (0% interest)..but my mate saw Aaron doing laps around Princes Park the day after the best and fairest. The man is all class and is putting his heart and soul into the club by the sound of it.
