Oscar Allen and it isn't even close. I don't give a crap if Naughton is getting more uncontested ball. At the end of the day, a big forward needs to take contested marks and kick goals. Allen has Naughton covered for both those things, earns more of the hard ball, is just behind in score involvements and destroys Naughton in both DE and shot accuracy.

If Allen keeps going 5.1 to Naughtons 2.3 there isn't a debate.

You'd have to be genuinely bad at footy watching to think Naughton is superior.

You can knock Naughton for a couple of things, kicking the main thing, but contested marking ain't it chief.

The fact that you inferred that me suggesting that Allen has been more consistent means that I think Naughton is bad at it.

Naughton has shown over multiple years to be the best, or in the top couple of players in the league at contested marking. It really shouldn’t be an argument between the two with this skill. You’re claiming that Allen “has Naughton covered” for this skill. I’m simply stating that what you claimed is untrue.

WCE have developed him absolutely perfectly.
If you're a tall you can hardly ask for a better development environment. The Eagles just always seem to have found talls and developed them properly.

Naughton is a brilliant footballer and will end up having a brilliant career. However Allen I feel will be something else entirely.

Side comment. Nik Cox will be in this conversation either next year or the following.

Allen out of these two for mine. Naughton’s marking and around the ground is first class of course, but Allen just looks like such an all round dangerous player

Tell you what though, if the Dogs put Naughton back, I reckon he’d be an all-timer KPD. Doubt they will, though

Wouldn't call Allen overrated. I can see how he is overhyped given that every commentator has fallen in love with him and he has the luxury of not dealing with the best defender every week due to Kennedy and Darling.
On the flip side, as someone who watches him every week, I can say that he is a great player, always gives it his all and has the right attitude. He is one of the best marks in the comp and his versatility and willingness to move for the benefit of the team is helpful and appreciated.

Overhyped and overrated are the same thing. Not suggesting he is isn’t a decent player. Someone called him the best young key forward in the game. Naughton, King brothers, McKay all ahead of him just to name a few.

Overrated : Overrated means something which doesn't live up to its reputation and fame surrounding it. Overhyped: To praise someone more than it deserves.
Allen doesn't have the reputation or fame that other stars have due to his age and previous lack of production. Announcers have been giving him praise constantly over the past couple of weeks (Not that he doesn't deserve any of it) but perhaps maybe a bit more than deserves. This situation is clearly more overhyped than overrated.
I also think both of the King brothers have a higher ceiling than him, not to mention the way McKay is playing right now is blowing most other KPF's out of the water. Allen is the eagles future though much the same way all of the three above are for their respective clubs.

Coin toss that you cannot lose !

Very happy with Oscar, he can play in virtually any position to a high standard. Hopefully he can settle as the main man in the forward line as JK winds down and Darling is well into the second half of his career now too. One thing that is underrated with Oscar is his set shots, I feel very secure when he is having a shot. I do not have that same feeling (yet..) with Naughton.
