My hand was forced somewhat as I had mummy spudding it up. So I sold him and Ablett, traded in pendles and now I've got enough cash on my bench to turn magner into ablett when he is ready to return

No way i am trading him.

Will ride out the storm and wait for those clear sunny skies! My Midfield/Projections and overall rank are still very healthy so he stays on the pine. 3-4 Weeks is a bit different to say a 10 week layoff and will re evaluate things IF he misses more than 4.

I am waiting in anticipation to play my opponents that wont have him when he comes back. ;)

All well and good to say " yeah i will trade him back in " but i don't see it that way personally and trades are like Gold and not to be wasted.

Each to their own though regarding the strategy they want to take with Gary.

I rose 2k~ spots overall with him on the pine, probably losing between 20-40 points by playing a rookie, not worth a trade IMO.

Traded him out today, theres no way he will average 150 when he comes back and his price will back off a little. having both Selwood brothers in my side is better than One.

I'm not sure what people think the injury is. If the initial diagnosis was 2-4, then it's probably a knee sprain and the two was always optimistic. Starting running after two weeks on the sidelines isn't at all odd for a knee sprain. He would seem unlikely for the GWS game, but they may name him and give him every chance to play. More likely to return against the Dogs. I'd be surprised if he's any later than the Port game in R9.

The trade-out/trade-in scenarios seem far too complicated for me. Using lots of trades and cashing quality cows seems fraught with danger. If he comes back too soon, you might not make it and be sitting there hoping Gaz doesn't hit his BEs. That's never any fun. Until there's more certainty, I've got cover, I'm keeping Gaz. If I'd traded him, I would have gone with Murphy, so there may be a tinge of regret if Murph tears it up against GWS and beyond. Ultimately, Gazza's the best player in the game. I want more knowledge before I get rid of him.

Personally I thought Spur and Horsley getting games now and Pendles price before this round made me take the risk. These are 2 downgrade targets most would of had on their radar all year and after crunching the numbers means that I use 1 extra trade to get him back. Any other injuries turns the whole thing to shit but.;)

Thought the injury was bone bruising, which depending on the severity is anywhere from weeks to months, with possibility of ongoing pain for the season. The trade outs seem to be happening because people are frustrated with the constantly changing reports coming out of GCS. At least once you get rid of him for a fit player you know what you have, with Ablett, it's a mystery wrapped in a riddle until he gets back on the park. In the mean time you're either going up or down the overall rankings depending on whether you kept im or not. It's been summed up pretty well plenty of times, people playing for leagues would most likely keep and people playing for overall, will most likely trade.

It's not that complicated, traded Ablett out for Pendles, left with 100k.
Cash sits on the bench.
Then trade Ablett back in for one of the guaranteed cash cows (magner etc) means you have basically upgraded mager to Pendles and had the cover of Pendles for the month that ablett will ultimately be out.
Sure you've used an extra trade, but hey you've had premium cover for the month he will miss.
And made some cash while magner is fattening up waiting for ablett's return.
Disclaimer: I did have some cash in the bank to make this possible.

In the words of the wedding singer this information could of been useful to me yesterday:p.

How much cash in the bank? Ablett is sitting around 700k. Magner may reach 400k. Maybe. But how long will that take? Slowly based on today's game. U need to make up a shortfall of roughly 200k? So that's 1 trade getting him out then maybe two more to get him back in. Not worth the hassle or more importantly the trades until we are certain how long he misses for.

Going for overall so happy I traded him out. Collected 140 points for Pendles plus I have avoided a donut that I would have got with selwood being a late withdrawal. So already 140 points up after 1 week.:thumbsu:

I went cheap in the rucks so I've got 550 odd. Magner is climbing week by week that ablett is out. So far Ive got 90 and it will just go up. So when I bring ablett in I've got a bit of gravy for a rookie upgrade.

More than the max 3 per round?

Umm... more than the usual 2 per round, yes.

Why on earth are you so anal about someone having a lot of trades left after five rounds? Pretty sure it's not hard to use them all up in the remaining 16-17 rounds

lols... read the rules.. 3 trades per round during the byes

Unless you're in a good position, those with plenty of trades are usually left behind...

So 3 per round during the byes is heaps more than the usual 2 per round? Thanks for backing up what I was saying.

So I wonder what players might see different about this year? See the first point

Do you even know if he's playing for overall or league wins? Or are trades up your sleeve useless for league too?

Not sure why you are still going on with this :o:confused:

GOLD Coast captain Gary Ablett admits he might miss the next four matches as he recovers from a knee injury.

Seems straight forward? Dunno
If you read the article or watched the footy show you will see that Ablett said his doctor predicts a 2-4 week injury, but that was from when he injured it. Which is why he mentions the GWS game next week.
