IS GARY Ablett the AFL's Tim Tebow?

Ablett posted a photo on social media of himself praying before Saturday's win against the Western Bulldogs.
The photo, of Ablett with head bowed along with teammates Aaron Hall and Zac Smith, was accompanied by a Bible quote: In 1 Corinthians 10:31 "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."
The picture attracted more than 1600 likes on Instagram and 86 retweets on his Twitter account.
The Gold Coast captain has not previously been so public about his faith, despite his famous father being a born-again Christian who thanked God in his acceptance speech after winning the 1989 Norm Smith Medal.
Saturday's pre-match routine prompted comparisons with NFL quarterback Tim Tebow, a devoted Christian and sparked the verb "Tebowing" for his practice of kneeling to pray on the sidelines.

I really don't know about anyone else but ideally I would rather a football keep their religious views to themselves. I mean given who his father is it is not surprising Ablett Jnr is also really religious but I would personally rather not know. This might seem hypocritical of me given that Brett Kirk was the Swans captain for years but what does everyone else think of the issue? Should footballers keep their religious and even political opinions to themselves?

The only thing which will stop Ablett is if he proves himself as crazy as his father. This is a good start.

Jesus...let's hope we don't get Tebow sideline style praying in the AFL.

Gazza come on son, is life that stressful you need to turn to the heavens for peace of mind?

Robbo should have a chat to him..

Bachar Houli is praised for embracing his religion publicly and is known to prey before match day, albeit to a different god. I'm glad they're not on the same team.

You know, I wouldn't put it passed little Gaz to ask for a private room where he can praise the Lord in private.

You just know the Suns bosses would say "What ever you want Gazza, what ever you need mate...do need some holy water too?"

same god, different prophets...

is that controversial? what's with the rolling eyes?

Same God? One gives away virgins and the other just opens up the pearly gates and says " Come on, get in";)

Hmmm. Done in private of the dressing rooms and a brief own twitter feed pic.

He's not hosting the 2 am tele Evangelical and handing out football's after games with bible versus.

For the time been let private choices be that without bagging people for it. All our clubs will have religious people within them.

Im not but im not but this is a personal choice and we have a personal choice to not participate too.

Sadly it crosses personal space boundaries by nature. That's all I'll say on the matter anyway.
