Selwood plays well in finals... hell the only reason we were even close at half time the last time we played the Hawks in a final is because Joel was carrying us.

Ablett is by far the best player I've seen since his dad.

Have no doubt his disloyalty has tarnished his legacy at Geelong, but he's still a level above Joel.

Yep i could of used any of those players. In fact i didnt even have to use a football analogy. I could of used bogans and pauline hanson, dung beetles and their views on the taste of poo or even Neo nazis and hitler. None of the comparisons tarnish selwoods name in any manner unless you arent all that bright and think any sort of association with something unsavoury tarnishes all those associated. Which is ridiculous and frankly worrying.

But who would I want beside me in the trenches for their heart, courage, persistence, stubbornness and refusal to quit? Different story.

Selwood has the heart of a lion and the courage of Buddha but his game has flaws which is why he will never be remembered as one of the greats.
He'll go down as another Garry Hocking.

I'd have to say I disagree with this post entirely. Sel is the best clubman and captain we've ever had. He carried the weight of a side on his back for 2 seasons when the older blokes fell away. He works tirelessly behind the scenes in terms of membership and promotion, always fronts the media and never talks down on the boys or the club. I'd say he lacked the ability of some of the more skill blessed players but his game has improved year after year.

Hes improved in heaps of facets since 2011;
-His hands have improved over the last 3 seasons to become a better than average mark overhead.
-His kicking continues to improve and is super underrated in this forum.
-His goal kicking numbers improved drastically since he started and after our peak in 2011
-His pressure acts and defensive run has improved this year alone if you pay any attention to the sun stats Lana posts.

Honestly his only downfall is that he can get shut down by a tag, other than that hes always consistent and you know you you're going to get from him. I don't even blame him Crowley/Jacobs/Coniglio wearing you like a glove and pinching away at me would definitely throw me off.

He won't be remembered as a great he'll be remembered as a champion in my eyes!

This guy is up there for his ability to lead, to achieve things single-handedly, to nurture belief in others.
