Who is better ATM.
I would say Ablett is better, but by as soon as next year, selwood might overtake him.
A lot of people will say selwood has overtaken him already.
Some would say Selwood will Never overtake Ablett.
I know cheap handballs and who gets the number 1 tagger will come into it.

P.S cyril inn't an option

Reckon Gazza's skills are sharper and his uncanny ability to get through tackles is better.
Having said that, Selwood is only in his 3rd season and is already performing elite

Both good points.

As good as Selwood was on the weekend, Ablett was certainly not too bad himself - the critics seem to have ignored his performance in their vote-giving. His ability to give off bullet passes by foot in traffic was as good as it's been this year. Reminded me of the North game almost (in 08) when he was being corralled instead of tackled.

Selwood is a star, but Ablett is still ahead of him in most aspects. I think between the two, we've got the two best midfielders in the comp.

The fact I sat here for a full minute trying to work out which one to vote for says a fair bit lol.

In the end however, I had to go with Ablett.

Selwood is an exceptional young player though.

How badly did Selwood get shown up against the Lions when Ablett and Ling were missing. It was Simon Black from memory that absolutely pulled his pants down.

I'd love to see Selwood in a side like Melbourne to get a true guage on his form. At the moment he is heralded like a superstar but gets the benefit of a great midfield around him week in, week out.

For that reason I would say Ablett easily, as he takes all the attention almost every week and still manages to have it on a string.

Because losing 1 head to head against possibly the best midfielder of the decade just destroyed any credebility Selwood had.

Couldn't be further from the truth. Selwood cops the number 1 tagger as often as Ablett does, mainly because no tagger has the physical attributes to keep up with him. The idea is that Selwood is not as fast or as elusive, so he is easier to tag. Considering he has copped attention from Kane Cornes, Brett Kirk and Brad Sewell in his awesome game on the weekend, to name but a few, it's no surprise that he has had a couple of down games.

There's no doubt that he is in our top two this year, and the attention from the opposition reflects that.

Considering against Brisbane he was our second best midfielder, it's no shame to lose a head to head with Simon Black, a champion of the modern era.
