Ron, I make the current count 220 as well, but this year's Season Guide leaves out Joseph Daye and Tom Nicholls. I've read that their heritage lies elsewhere so I imagine they simply didn't belong on the list in the first place. Don Keyter (Sth Melb/Sydney) is in the book. Darren Bolton (Frem) is the one other name I have that doesn't match your list. Thanks mate. Keyter is actually in my database; I got lazy and manually updated the list I posted in 2010 and stuffed it up. Re Bolton: impossible to reconcile the different sources; even the AFL one constantly has players coming onto and dropping off the list (Daye & Nicholls!). I'll content myself with working from the AFL source.

35Daicos - How do I message that website? Norm LeBrun needs to be removed from that list because he was not indigenous.
I can't remember exactly how I contacted them when I did a year ago, and it now looks a bit different to what I remember.
If you click on Contact at the bottom left of the Past Players page, then Send Us Your Stories (http://www.aflcommunityclub.com.au/index.php?id=785) you can at least tell your story and hopefully it will reach the right people.

Thank-you. I have done as you have suggested. I had a bit of trouble because it wanted a jpeg to be attached to the "story". But I seem to have gotten away with attaching a pdf of a newspaper article about Normie.

Should anyone check out the Current Players list (http://www.aflcommunityclub.com.au/index.php?id=790) please note that Chad Wingard (Port Adelaide) should be on it. For mine, Elijah Edwards (NSW Scholarship) and Jack Martin (17 year old mini draft) don't belong there as they aren't yet on their club's primary or rookie lists. That would make it 67 current indigenous players in the AFL.

Still can't believe Collingwood had just two Indigenous players represent them between 1896-1994.
Should Saint Kidding succeed in his quest to have Norm Le Brun removed from the AFL's list of indigenous players (see posts above) that will leave only one - Wally Lovett - who represented Collingwood only in the 1982 season.
Either way, it is a remarkably ordinary looking record.
Lovett wasn't easily identifiable as Aboriginal, either. He's the leftmost seated player in the middle row in this shot, next to Maurice Rioli.

I managed to get an email to Ali Fahour, the AFL's National Multicultural Manager, yesterday morning. He said he would ask someone from Collingwood to follow up with me. I haven't heard anything yet.
Not sure why Collingwood needs to follow up, unless the move to add him to the AFL's list originally came from them. Collingwood has been the most vocal in claiming him as indigenous though.

Very well done, Saint Kidding. Good on you for your persistence and of course thanks for providing an update here. I was actually a bit worried that "politics" might get in the way and Collingwood would prefer to leave things as they were, rather than have the records show that they didn't field an indigenous player until 1982. Hopefully we will see the AFL records altered soon.
The article by Glenn McFarlane is a wonderful read. I've always liked his work, and not just because of his Collingwood connection. He puts most of his colleagues to shame these days.
I don't believe that Graeme Lee should be included in the list. Don't remember any reference to him having aboriginal heritage connection when he played with Wynyard, Launceston and East Devonport in the 1960s & 1970s. In that same era however, players like Eddie Thomas (East L'ton/Wynyard) and Neil Maynard (North L'ton) were acknowledged as such members of the community. I'll get in touch with St Kilda FC and seek clarification about Lee's entry.
