Re: Down on the Borderline's lyrics, I reckon that line sounds as per what the written lyrics suggest... 'She use me like an anchor / Got a hold on me'. Which follows on the previous line 'Between the devil and the deep blue sea'.

Not all AC/DC's sound like what the written lyrics suggest but that line does to my ears

:D!! For f*ck's sake. I missheard that one badly.

http://www.metrolyrics.com/down-on-the-borderline-lyrics-acdc.html

"She goes struttin' 'round and she shows so much
With a neon sign saying "don't you touch"
Between the devil and the deep blue sea
She use me like an anchor, got a hold on me"

For years now I was positive that it was the 'n' word that I was hearing. I've done a Randy Marsh:oops:!

Powerage is one that a lot of people have picked up on in hindsight. Plenty of muso's rate it highly. Think it was #1 on a list of "best 70's albums" in a magazine recently. Must admit I don't really share the love, apart from Riff Raff and Down Payment Blues. Always sounded "dashed off" and not quite finished to me, a bit like Chisel's Twentieth Century.
Put me in the musos who rate it as THE best full player. Raw, sardonic and straight up power capped off with some of the best lyrics laced with Bons wink and a smile vocal delivery. I ****in loved it the first time I heard it as a 12 year old and I still love it at 46.

Even though I'm not a fan of ACDC I respect how good their music is and there is one song that I think is brilliant!! Led Zeppelin levels good and that is "Shake a Leg"..and yet, I've never heard it played on radio, yet it's probably their best song (in my humble opinion)...that riff is incredible and it's just better than a lot of other tracks I've heard from them.

I often find them a bit too cheesy with the anthems...but I lean more towards being a queen fan.

But shake a leg is incredible, especially on a half decent stereo system. It should have been their biggest hit, yet it's not even on YouTube.
Sorry I got here late but I agree, this is a great song.
It seems Mutt was actually trying to get a Zeppelin sound here, especially when BJ gets the high notes with a bit of vibrato.
The song smokes!

I think Powerage is up there but for me, Let there be Rock has some great and heavy songs on it.
In fact, the song Overdose (once the tuning guitar crap at the start is over) is such a heavy song. Listen to it loud and it pumps, Angus at the start sounds like he's using a razor blade for a pick.

I never smoked with no cigarettes
I never drank much booze
But I'm only a man, don't you understand
And a man can sometimes lose

Not a month goes by that I don't punch that one out!

Let There Be Rock is Dave Mustaine's of Megadeth favourite album.

It doesn't surprise me as it is such a heavy and tight album (with plenty of funny Bon lyrics).
I really love all the old albums for different reasons (as well as the first 3 of BJ) but there is a bloody tight heaviness that only Let there be Rock has. imho

That's enough of that, I'm closing all the windows and am gonna crank it now!

At work they're weaning everyone off desk phones onto softphone/headset combos. Been issued with some half-decent Plantronics cans, so Plex has been getting a good workout. "Just testing the equipment, boss."

ROCKIN' RONNY! Pleased to see the old-school Bon-era Albert & Son album covers on that playlist. They're worth a bit now if you've still got 'em on vinyl or CD (dunno about cassette).

There are a lot of fakes around. Some info on how to avoid getting stung can be found here: https://brutig.wordpress.com/fakecounterfeit-1995-emi-picture-cds/

T.N.T. was re-released on CD about 2006 and is freely available, but if anyone offers you a new High Voltage/Dirty Deeds/Let There Be Rock - beware.

Interesting. I've got all the Albert & Son releases (Highway to Hell was the only Bon Scott album that was released by Atlantic Records) but none of them are picture disks. Mine look like this;

The older look would be even easier to fake I reckon.

Disctronics 1989, seen them advertised at high prices on eBay. The widely-counterfeited picture CD editions are from 1995, which is the last of the valuable pressings. Not sure which edition I had originally, they got stolen around Christmas 1991. Now I just have the garden variety box set from 2002.

I.used to say HTH...but gone back to Powerage of late...both crackers

Powerage is just more even to me, every song is a beauty, every song is also a little different to the one that came before it, there's no real single or lead song, every instrument plays its part, lyrically amazing and varied by their standard. H2H is my favorite song, but 3rd favorite album behind this and Back in Black. It's the peak of AC/DC before Mutt Lange got in to them to break them in America and they became a bit more predictable and formula orientated.

Love AC/DC although they aren't my all time favourite artist as I listen to anything and everything. However, they just have so many high quality songs, bar none, that it's not fair on any other bands. They were at their best for 20 years from 1975-1995 and peaked in 1979-1980 for mine.

My Winamps Top AC/DC songs, rated 4 out of 5 stars or higher. I'm a tough critic too. You'll unearth a few gems in this list below. Rock on!
