We all know the rort the northern state teams get to benefit from but this trade period highlighted yet another advantage they get

Gold Coast and Sydney put up multiple first round picks for Petracca and Curnow, any normal club cannot afford to pay 3 consecutive first round picks for one player , but if you got kids coming up in future drafts that you have exclusive rights to, that allows you to spend more than others can at the trade table

We are now in the stupid situation where there are more juniors playing Aussie Rules in Qld than SA but they still have these academies because they are "not footy heartlands"
