Hearing the Lions are a bit upset that Shadeau Brain is not eligible for them as has not been in the region continuously for 5 years. Anyone have anything on him?

comes from a massive family. Is a serious talent, but because he spent time living in Finley (Hawkins territory) and playing State u15s for NSW, he doesn't meet the Lions academy criteria

I think he has about 15 siblings, very good player and hard and tough too.

If they rated him so highly why did the coaches wait so long to include him in the academy side? Nor did they include him in the final 35 squad. If they were under the impression lions couldnt control him, why did they end up selecting him is teams anyway? Because its a reactionary shit show, run by an under qualified, self important pack of morons.

Below a previous post of yours. He wasnt in your 'top 3 who werent getting a game' either..
Can you just stop with the insults.

Especially against people who can’t defend themselves on here.

No problem with posters expressing their opinions otherwise.

Its my opinion, and whats stopping them defending themselves?

Let's face it, if they were on here defending themselves, you'd be criticizing them for wasting time posting on a footy forum when they more important things to do.

But kudos to you, it's classic Tigernova or whatever the mutitude of usernames you've had over the years were. The shame of it all is the workings academy is worth debating, but it's hard to take you seriously when you've got a vested interest.

Lions actually competing well with a previously hot Swans side. The swans dont have all their ins.. (8 out) Hugely different Lions side on the park compared to the boys in the 1st few games. Many now included, some from outside the 35 who should have been playing from the start. Ignored for weeks until QAFL clubs started campaigning for them to be included.

So instead of playing intra academy games and sorting these boys out, many of these boys who should have got a a full 7-8 game series to show their wares, now only have 2-3 games. Just disgraceful. Pathetic coaching and selection process.

Cry me a river.

How did it end up?

Who are some of these guys that have been brought in and are making a difference?

I know Quigley (I think) was excited about a kid named MacMillan?

Also was there a young tall who kicked a few goals in a match a couple games ago?

BTW I don't think there has been anyone on here arguing that the Academy is doing well. I think we are all pretty confused and disappointed that the academy kids just are not presenting in the last few years.

Pretty sure the 3 Quigley suggested plus Brain played today. Lions won 54-64 i think. Dour game as one would expect.

And.. The Russian schooled Canelo... wow!

Obviously you dont understand 'vested interest'. And anyway, tell me how accurate the observations would be of those with no interest? About as accurate as the ones you have offered.. zero, none, nothing, nada.

Why cant any of you just address these points?
I've asked you to declare your relationship to the Academy, but you have repeatedly failed to address it. I gather you don't deny your previous accounts of Tigernova, covertackle and Billyclub plus probably a few others over the years. I assumed that you have a family member who is/was an Academy member. Am I wrong? That's what I mean by "vested interest" and I'm pretty sure you know that. But I tell you what, I'll address the points you offer up if you address that.

I don't particularly know a huge amount about the Academy, the good, the bad and the ugly. Most of my knowledge is gleaned by talking to others, but I don't claim to have an formed opinion on it. I'm sure there are things they do well and things they can do much better. One thing I'm sure of is the majority of negative commenters have no idea as to the true breadth of what is involved.

But your history bagging out the academy over the years for numerous apparent shortcomings are tiresome. If any of your observations have merit, it's unfortunate as like the boy who cried wolf, anything you say cannot be trusted.

Are you really criticising the guy because he has a vested interest in the academy to do well? The academy haven't produced much talent since it's inception are supporters supposed to just shrug their shoulders?

Nobody has a problem with him wanting the academy to do well, everybody wants that. It’s the name calling and childish way he’s been going about it, even if the academy were to do exactly what he’s asking for he would still find a way to turn it into a bad thing.
I’ve said this before but I believe the academy has produced us some very good players and is continuing to do so. Judging off performance so far this season it would seem they’re going pretty well. I admit I don’t know the inner workings of the academy or whether it’s processes are right or wrong but from a purely outside perspective, I’m quite happy with who we have gained out of it.

Those are two separate questions. The former can imply a level of bias, e.g. hypothetically if his kid isn't getting the recognition he thinks he deserves - and it also seems to result in him getting aggro at anyone with a differing opinion or trying to have a level-headed discussion. As to the latter yes, as TFB says in the very post you quoted, "the workings academy is worth debating".

A lot of people have been very critical of the academy (myself included) and the results have not been as good as expected and as they should be. I doubt anyone on here has any problem with people fairly criticising the Academy. The issue I think is the continual pointless name-calling and the fact that many of the criticisms of approach could actually be positives or at least acknowledgements that they got things wrong and attempts to rectify the situation. Being willing to try others who step up is not necessarily an acknowledgement that the original process was wrong. It may be but not necessarily so and in any case being willing to move on from past decisions should be applauded provided lessons are learned where appropriate.

There's always going to be people unhappy, thinking that their kid didn't get the look-in they thought they should have. I totally get that. I know people whose lad didn't even get a look in in the Academy program who were probably deserving - they can at least debate the pros and cons of the operation of the Academy with a level head. No, it's because he this poster has a history of bagging the academy when friends/family don't get the attention he thinks they deserve.

Very much this. And I'll restate that I'd wager none of us on here have the credentials to know how complicated the job actually is.

Thanks for quoting my poor grammar. Prick.

If you arent going to give a kid a run, dont put them in a 'final squad' of 35, then pick players from outside the squad in front of them repeatedly. Just tell the kid to save his money and travel time etc. Dont ignore him for weeks and continually disappoint him.

Ive replied 'in kind' to posters that attacked me. Mostly, the mod deleted my replies, not theirs..

I haven't given an opinion of any academy staff in particular. Wrongly, i have brushed them all with the one stroke. That was a mistake, but its hard not to, as im trying not to be specific about individuals. 'He said, she said' is pointless.

I, being not easy to deal with, can stress people, thereby I tend to get a good insight into they type of person im dealing with. Ive tested many footy peoples patience in the past, and nearly without fail, everyone has been patient and helpful... Be they QAFL, Lions, or even club. Never have I received the type of sarcastic correspondence that i have this year from anyone, let alone the academy. And, Im not the only one.. So if im not showing enough respect for the academy in your eyes, there may be reasons you dont know about..

Interesting. Lions has given academy participants an opportunity to anonymously (no such thing) give their own appraisal of coaches, methods etc. Would be interesting to know if coaches themselves are asking for this feedback, or Lions administration?

Lets hope that its the Lions admin showing they actually care... and not the coaches reviewing themselves...
