Re: 7. Adam Bentick
Maybe his job was to shut down Watson rather than go head to head.........seems odd though.

v Bumbers 23/6/08
Minimal impact
6 possies
4 contested
100% eff
1 kick
5 hball
2 clearances
5 tackles
only 50% TOG (least for team)
Minimal impact as I said but if I don't make excuses for him who will LOL
- strangely started on bench (when he has been so good early of late?)
Only played 8min of Q1 and laid all his 5 tackles (but no possies)
- 2nd Q came on 7min in again, played on Watson and for the 10min AB was on, they both had 4 possies
- 3rd Q started on gnd, about the 8min mark of Q he had his only kick for the day, a beautiful 45+m pass to set up Fev gl but was immediately benched (as I have said before, set rotations don't always add up)
- 4th Q came on 4 min in and played the 8 min where we looked good but did not have a possie himself. Did get first touch at 2 bounces and 1 throw in before being sacked each time. Went off when they got back in front and did not get back on until it was all over.
He did not appear to be injured at all and although he was not on fire, he did show a flicker or two however the coach did not believe it was his day
I expect him to bounce back against the Tiggers and hope he is in at the first bounce

You're right bluebear, I don't know what it was against St. Kilda, but he was always out of position, Hayes hurt us all night, Bentick did a few good things, but wasn't his usual self, despite Juddy having 30 touches, we didn't enjoy a good night for centre clearances and we needed AB to help stem the flow a bit, was poor in my opinion
To be fair, Hayes wasn't his direct opponent all night, but there was two clear cases where Bentick was outpositioned.
You'd think, knowing we will lose the tap vs King, that we would set up goal side of our opponents.![]()
I will keep it brief as there are very few supporters who appreciate AB
v Hawks 30/8/08
ONLY 51% TOG
18 possies
7 contested
83% eff
4 clearances
4 tackles
Before posting I suggest the knockers double the above in order to get the gist of how well he is doing off the bench
You know I'm a rap for AB Five, but he along with Stevo were seriously exposed for leg speed (yes, they weren't alone).
Benticks man, Lewis at times, then others, would run forward at will when the hawks had the footy.
Needs to do loads of sprint work this pre-season, try and pick up a yard.
Most sides won't hurt us that way, but the Bombers do, and the Roos and Hawks do. It needs to be fixed. I hope AB will be part of the solution.
Fair enough. Had trouble spotting who was on Lewis TBH, saw Bentick at times and assumed he was the culprit. Not totally fair bb (not denying AB lacks leg speed, mind you) as AB was not on Lewis in 1st Q when Lewis got his 13 possies (I think it was mediumsizered who praised AB for putting the brakes on Lewis in 2ndQ)
The future is a big ask for AB - he has to be Deisel like and hurt them more than they hurt him/us![]()
Laycock LMAO ? No thanks, he's just as bad as Cain Ackland EEK ..
How about a trade, Bentick for Laycock from essendon? 2 totally different positions, but what they hey?
Its not the penetration that's the issue.......its the accuracy.Went to school with AB @ Bernard's...Always knew he was going to become an AFL player.
Its funny how he lacks pace in the AFL and yet at high school he was running in the 400m...obviously there's quite a step up, or not much competition.
He would be a very, very good player if he had more penetration with his kicking
