The fact that there is a 70 page thread, mostly negativity towards adam and countless attacks on his character shows that Adam Goodes is winning this, that he is right, this country needs to have a conversation.

And it seems the most inarticulate replies have been from people who cannot even get simple Grammar right, how are we expected to think these people have the ability to become educated on indigenous affairs?

What a terrible time to be an australian, ruled by an ultra conservative racists and uncompassionate government, a media that is pamering to the lowest common denominator and a country suffering from a massive cultural identiy problem and one that is suffering from massive denial but then this:

  • 70 pages filled disguised racism.
  • countless edited racist wiki pages.
  • Racebook engaging in non stop vitriol towards him.
  • Known racists like Andrew Bolt and just then, Dermott Brereton, all lambasting Adam.

Australia, we have a massive problem.

That problem is idiots like you assuming everything is racist. 'disguised racism' ffs

It's a race based war dance and involves a mimed spear throw...What would you consider 'equivalent', and how would you react to that?

I dont really get cut up by a bit of dancing by someone on the ground, there is no equivalent that would bother me personally to the point i would be offended, its just a dance

If they pulled an actual shot gun out, or went over and belted the crowd or something then thats an issue

I would prefer goodes to focus more on celebrating with his own fans or his team mates

But id also prefer the media to shut up and not bother asking him about it after the game then next day at a presser etc

The issue to me should be more about wether a player should carry on or go and thank his team mates and focus on the game. This whole are people racists, or is it too aggressive dance is just a media driven pc bust up

If you want to get all angry and offended by it then thats your right, but i just think there are way more important things to focus on

Lets not forget half the sides run out to songs that are war marches

Who gives a crap what the dance may of meant long ago really, it didnt actually start a war with anyone

How would you respond if an anglo player directed a white power salute and fired an imaginary rifle at an aboriginal section of the audience, then claimed afterwards it was because he was proud of his race and 'representing'?
You genuinely equate Goodes' dance with a white person giving a white power salute and firing a rifle aimed towards a group of people who were the target of a century and a half of ongoing attempts to wipe them out by white settlers? Are you that stupid?

Just curious, do you class Goodes as a racist? Or can racism only flow one way?

P.S. (If you're going to attack people for their grammar, best ensure that your's is impeccable.)

You missed the whole point, which is why we have the issues we do.

Its not about how you feel and about how i feel, its about how a collective consciousness of people feel and how we, those in privileged potions, act towards them.

Thats Adams point, one that is missed by the vast australian public.
A collection of words spun into rubbish, too scared to get specific. An attempt to deal in enigmatic innuendo. Nice troll account, see you round.

You quoted my entire post but evidently didn't read it. I didn't say it was racist. I said Goodes had every reason to believe it was racist, as in most cases, historically, when a white person has called a black person an "ape" they have done so for racist reasons.
Why would he assume she was white? after all as you said he only instinctively turned and pointed to her.

I'm not sure everyone appreciated this. ;)

Especially under a closed roof at Docklands. :P

You seem like you have a handle on these things. Why not put up your hand and help out?
I don't have a handle on anything. I barely know crap about this issue. The only experience I have ever had learning about aboriginal issues was when I was at school 8 years ago and from watching Samson and Delilah. That's why I am interested in hearing people's personal experiences.

Would love to volunteer if I had time./knew how to. However, I'm not sure if I would be a suitable teacher at all for drug/alcohol abuse in those communities. :D

Do you ever feel you could actually use a larger % of your brain to engage in positivity rather than pollute it with toxicity which then clouds your judgement and turns you into a hate-filled individual?

Adam isn't the problem here, you and your kind are.

Racism should be called out no matter what direction it comes from.
As such Adam Goodes needs to be called out for his obvious racism.

He obviously has a problem with what he defines as non indigenous peoples clearly shown by his comments re Australia`s national day being "A day of shame"
Further comments such as these -

Commenting on a the film, Utopia, the Swans captain denounced “our very dark past, a brutal history of dispossession, theft and slaughter”.

“Europeans, and the governments that have run our country, have r*ped, killed and stolen,” he wrote in Fairfax newspapers.

Goodes attacked Australians who resisted this lurid characterisation of our past: “The people who benefited most from those rapes, those killings and that theft ... turn away in disgust when someone seeks to expose it.”

Goodes was born in South Australia, to Lisa May and Graham Goodes. Through his mother, Goodes is of Adnyamathanha and Narungga descent while he has English, Irish and Scottish ancestry through his father.

And when he attacks “the people who benefited most from those rapes, those killings and that theft”, does he include himself?

This is what appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald on February 9, 2014. Goodes wrote:

Utopia has shown me how, over 225 years, the Europeans, and now the governments that run our country, have r*ped, killed and stolen from my people for their own benefit. The total injustices that have been played out since colonisation are absolutely shameful, and I now find it hard to say I am proud to be Australian.

His comments are divisive and he appears to totally reject the at least 50% of his heritage that is non aboriginal.

I have not killed anyone.
I have not r*ped anyone.
I have not stolen from anyone.

I was born in this country and as such consider myself indigenous to this country.

Mr Goodes appears to have issues and may need some professional assistance.
His behavior in my view, is racist.
Just as we need to focus on the divisive nature of radical fundamentalist Islamists in our society we also need to be aware of the divisive racists that try to divide us.

I said nothing of racism, I said I don't go to football to watch a bunch of boorish idiots. Whether the comment is racist or just plain offensive (f***ing soft ****, or the like) or simply childish (grown men booing), it's pathetic. As are people who think it's part and parcel of the game.

In case you did not know australia is based on free speech and freedom of expression.

It does not matter what you like or think as they break no laws they are free to say and do what they want.

So your just going to have to learn to cope princess.

Why would he assume she was white? after all as you said he only instinctively turned and pointed to her.

It's becoming clear you're either being deliberately obtuse, arguing in semantics or lacking in empathy. A black guy grows up being called "ape" and the like his entire life. You think when he hears it on the footy field he wouldn't reasonably assume it's someone racially vilifying him?

I wonder if he is thriving or wether he just felt compelled to stand up and be counted.

Nelson Mandela is a household name, but he never chose fame. He just recognized injustice and made a stand.

Why don't you give him the benefit of the doubt and have a look at all the amazing work he does behind the scenes.
Don't compare what they have done, or the lives they lived. Goodes has grown up, getting paid good coin, to kick a pig skin around. Mandela was in jail, purely because of his skin colour. Thats a pathetic association you have made up.

Which part is racist?
