Adam Heuskes rocks

I have noticed that Heuskes - the man we call Ooga - has received alot of flack on this forum.
Adam has brought so much to our club - his great on field attitude in getting all the boys together, and his team moral has been great.
Sure, he is a character, but that is a good thing. I think that the only reason why some of you people are dissing him is because you know what you let go.

Couldn't agree more

Out of all the players the Sydney Swans have traded away since 1996, there are only two that we really, really miss.

Heuskas is one, the other is Shannon Grant. And honourable mentions must also go to Troy Cook and Clinton King.

This sounds like it has the makings of a good thread. Who are the players you most wish your club had not traded?

Personally, I would still love to see Modra in an Adelaide guernsey and it's a real shame we let Sean Wellman go, considering how well he has done for Essendon and how highly respected he apparently was among the Adelaide players. At the time, though, he certainly was not the player he is now and we are not wanting for rebounding defenders.

I always enjoy seeing ex-Adelaide players do well for themselves at another club, when they are players the Crows released rather than those who left the club. I hate it when ignorant supporters boo ex-players who the *club* traded. How stupid can you get? What they are really doing is booing their own club.

I was very disappointed to hear Modra attract boos at Football Park, although I was only watching on television. You can understand why the Victorians call it Moron Park when you hear things like that.

Matty Lappin definitely underachieved during his career with us. Despite glimpses of brilliance, I don't think he warranted being left on the list for the 6-7 years. It is a little hard to take seeing him fit so well into the Carlton side and then demolish us with 4 second half goals.

However, we managed to pick up young James Begley from Sturt and he is an enormous talent. He is out for the season with a shoulder injury but he has the potential to be a great player.

I am a little off track here aren't I?
Sorry, a bit of saints talk won't do any harm. Even if it is to myself!

Bloodstained Angel we may have got Grant who is a terrific young footballer however, Wayne Schwass was North through and through and it was so sad to see him fly of the Sydney when he still had a few good years left.

Special Mention: Timmy McGrath, his dad played for the club and it was a very poor decision by the then coach, he was never given a chance at North.

Crows miss Wellman, Hawthorn miss Jarman and Barnard and (perhaps) Bombers miss Salmon. but it was a great trade for all concerned. When I saw Jarman's deeds in 97/98 it was so terriffic, even if it was for the crows.

So sorry Ardent - the last thing I wanted to do was come across all aggressive-like.

Schwass has been great for us - Grant has been great for you, but both clubs still miss each others' trade.

thats all i was saying - sorry to sound narky !

I was a little disappointed when the Dons let go of Salmon. He would have been a better ruckman than that hack- Somerville who we had.
But then again, I would want to switch clubs to if my own supporters booed me off the ground. I always hated that day when the supporters booed him off.

Giving the boot to Adrian Flectcher and Doc Clarke is the biggest for Brisbane I think. And the strange thing is (co-incidence or not) that Brissy have had a bad season after the loss of both of these popular-amongst-the-team players.

Hueskes is a great get I think - his ability to laugh at himself is one of the most important off-field things he has brought to the Lions.

But once again, the Lions recruitment division has let us down. Booting Good Players, holding on to some that they shouldn't be and not utilising the draft to the best potential. Oh well - one day they will learn, or they will get the boot themselves.

Glen Manton for me.
I think the only reason he went was because there was a personality clash between him & Sheeds. Glen was too much of an individual. I think he has shown he is a great team player despite his individuality.

It was sad to see Mods go but in the long run it was probably best for both him & the club. I don't think we have missed Wellman, besides we got Fudd for him so we can't possibly complain.

I would have liked to keep Chad Rintoul. He is hard at the ball & we just about gave him away for nothing.

Peter Mann and Jose Romero, are the only two players to leave the Kangaroos in the last 7 years, without our blessing. They are the two I am most disappointed with, but then they don't have Premiership Medals.

Colbert was a turncoat, and got his just desserts for bailing out on Geelong. What a bastard! He had the captaincy of a club that this year has improved immensely, but noooo he had to go elsewhere. Our household used to be one of his fans, now we just say stiff sh*t when we hear how he got another injury at North. That'll teach North for tanking up their side with good players. Now after a few years there'll be no good players left with them because they'll be too old or crippled.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

While may of us get pleasure in reminding the Dons of their send of of Salmon, to few Hawks forget the ridicule that Paul Hudson copped. I always had a soft spot for Huddo (not as big as the soft spot he has himself though!) and was sorry to see him go, classic squib half forward. Also Matty Young never really got a go at the Hawks, beautiful foot skills and they gave him up and kept Tallis???
Brad Scott was another though Barker has been a handy pick up.

Best player we've got through trading would have to Scotty. He bought a lot of much-needed personality to the club. That's since been extinguished by KJ, but that's another post

I can't really think of many we've 'let go' though. I guess Laidly went on to a flag, but he wouldn't have made it into the team given our defence at the time. Bond, Lyle and Schofield have all gone on to play well, but I don't really want them back

Perhaps Matty Connell?

Jason Ball & Buzz Fewster have both failed at their new clubs so far....

Good thing there's no Freo supporters here!
