Do any of you eagles supporters know anything about Adam Hunter and how good/bad he is? I drafted him mid-season last year in my footy comp as a potential forward for the eagles as his write-up was 'takes Modra-like marks, etc'...
At 189cm, I'm wondering whether or not he'll actually be a ffwd type or fwd flanker type or whether they'll leave him in the backline like they did in 2001?
Any replies, greatly appreciated...:)

He's a utility type player, can play all over the place. He'd off poor quality though, most of us are surprised he didn't get delisted.

If you want a half-forward, take Haynes. The guy is gonna be a gun player, and a lot of us are tipping him for great things in the future.

Yes he's a utility, but I believe he will become a very good player. He needs to bulk up a bit. Skinny kids at 189cm are hard to fit into a team. Not tall enough really for key positions so they are left to half forward and half back flank options which are competitive positions usually taken by players more bulked up and older. He will need to stand up this year but if given the chance I'm sure he has the ability.

The Eagles squad for this coming season has so many players under 23 that have it all to prove but I don't see that they all can be given a fair run to prove themselves.

Just a reminder that Hunter was only 19 last season and has now turned 20 so is still pretty young, but even so got this rap last season :-

The 19-year-old Hunter, in only his fourth AFL game, won his duel with dashing Hawks forward Ben Dixon but the Eagles copped an 80-point hiding.

Hunter said he wasn't overawed with his MCG debut and tackling such an elusive sharpshooter as Dixon.

Hunter is good as a marking player - and because of the stage of his development, we've only seen him play AFL up forward in a flank type position.

As with so many of the others, it depends on whether he can get and cement a place in the team. I do agree that Haynes (or Embley) is more likely to make it, but I wouldn't rule out Hunter. Interestingly he plays for Swan Districts, not East Perth aka West Coast Eagles reserves, in the WAFL.

Yep, playing with Swan Districts makes it a lot harder for a young kid to make his mark.

The good thing about Adam Hunter is his lightning quick pace. Combine this with his height and you have the makings of a quality player.

If he does have a future, I think it'll probably be playing the same role that Collica does at the moment.

AFAIK Hunter has been playing in the half forward line for Swan Districts. In their last game of the season I think he kicked 3 or 4 goals which wasn't a bad effort.

HHHhhhhmmm...McDougall, Hansen, Haynes,

Just trying to read into what has been said about several players other than Hunter, my guess would be in order, in terms of a gun CHF type, would be McDougall 196cm (winner of Barassi medal v ireland Pick 5 2000 Draft), Hansen and perhaps Haynes as a smokey HFFlanker type...wonder who's gonna be the next ffwd at the Eagles....hhhhhhhmmmm????

Thanks for all your input...

(plus Judd/Sampi to top it off...)

Hunter V Modra?

You're right about Hunter and what they said...that's why I drafted him last year...which is why I'm asking the question. Fwd or Back? On that write-up, he's a shoo-in for ffwd. One of the other writers suggested however, he's not much chop....hhhhmmmm...Safest bet is to go for McDougall, Hansen & Hunter for both CHF & FFWd in that order I reckon'...
McDougall was draft 5 in 2000, and there were plenty of good players picked after him, so he MUST be good...best in the ireland series apparently (kids tour)...Hansen was pick 38 in this draft & Jonathan BROWN was pick 30 2 years ago, so I like the sound of him and Hunter I'm not sure about (what pick he was, which draft). McDougall's 196 and Hansen's 195...Hunter's a smokey like u said at 189cm...might be ffwd or possibly a hfflank perhaps.
I think for the time being, Gardiner will go CHF changing ruck with Cox, until either McD or Hansen step-up. Judd's an excellent pick for the weagles and give them 2-3 years and woosha will get them playing how he wants with a team that HE's chosen...
