No way that word is real.
Thesaurus isn't a real dinosaur either. Not that it would matter anyway. Everyone would just think it was another dinosaur.

The board comprising largely of corporate types without football expertise not being persuaded by the views of the only boar member with previous experience as a player (Jones) or its CEO is extremely concerning.

Whoever sides against Nesbitt is in the right.

$6m payout, if true, definitely came into play I reckon. I know, it’s not our money and eagles “have money” but we don’t have more money than god by having policy of splashing million when something is inconvenient.

Depends how much of an issue simmo is and reckon they thought next year won’t be much better so sacking him won’t do much. Lose first 5 games and new coach will be under just as much pressure. Back to square 1, with $6m less money. Do we sack the new coach, go over cap again?

I am ok getting pyke in as ceo first and get him to assess the situation with fresh eyes.

What an incredibly difficult corner Nisbett and the Board got us into with that excessively generous contract to Simpson.

The eyes roll over. No wonder we are struggling to win a game.

I don’t get as bogged down as some here with not moving Simpson on.
You see I think we are going to be shit for the next two seasons, regardless of who coaches us.
If we are going to flush millions down the shitter with AFL taxes then - and this will not appease all - IMO I would much prefer the taxed soft cap over spend to be on our S&C massive problem.
Our injury plight these last two years has been horrendous… polite version.

If we are going to throw money away I would much prefer that we do so in an area where we get much more tangible benefit from the over spend.

Do I think that Simpson is the best coach to take us forward, to be honest I do have serious reservations.

However before we go searching for our next Head Coach, we need to have the new CEO in place.

So order of business for me:

1. Sort out the S&C / medical dept.

2. Appoint a new CEO.

3. Then determine who the best Coach is to take us to our fifth Premiership.

Buckle up for a few more crapola seasons and IF the recruiting guys do their bit well,
then I would be thinking that our climb back up the ladder will be in a good space.

West Coast Eagles board member Ben Wyatt ‘very confident’ call to keep Adam Simpson was the right move

Ben Wyatt has become the first West Coast board member after chair Paul Fitzpatrick to speak out over the decision to back Adam Simpson as the club’s coach, saying he was “very confident” the call was the right one.
It comes as Wyatt revealed Eagles powerbrokers were now focused on a “smooth transition” away from chief executive Trevor Nisbett as the long-time boss now faces heat over the club’s turmoil.
The Eagles board last week resolved to keep their embattled coach at the helm despite two nightmare seasons after a groundswell of fan support for the premiership mentor.

The “unanimous” call came after reports of the board being split over the decision through the club’s three-win season.
Speaking for the first time since the announcement was made, Wyatt threw his support behind Simpson and the club’s young playing list.
When asked if the call to back Simpson was the right one, Wyatt responded: “Absolutely. Very confident.”
“I think we have got a great list in terms of our youth and an appropriate balance of some older players — obviously we have seen some significant retirements,” he said.

“I think Adam Simpson, as you saw the other night at the fairest-and-best, is ready and willing to go.”
Wyatt confirmed fellow board member Nisbett will not continue as CEO beyond next season and is bracing for a significant shift at the club — one he says will come in “due course”.

“We have, as Trevor Nisbett as said, he’s not going beyond 2024, that’s the end of his contract,” he said.
“In due course we are going to have to manage that transition. It is going to be a big transition for the club, obviously.
“Such an outstanding CEO that has been there for such a long period of time... that’s a big transition for the club.
“We will get to that and we will make sure that is done as smoothly as possible.
“I’m on the board, I want to make sure that is managed in a way that has the least impact on the club going forward.”
At Saturday night’s John Worsfold Medal count, Fitzpatrick told the room he has “great faith” in Simpson and football boss Gavin Bell to continue their rebuild.

The backing of Simpson comes as the Eagles prepare to make significant changes to their football department, with assistant coach Daniel Pratt and WAFL mentor Rob Wiley to depart.

Asked about West Coast’s situation at a press conference in support of the ‘yes’ vote at next month’s Voice referendum, Wyatt said the club’s young playing list excites him, and named Tom Barrass and Liam Duggan as players to step into leadership roles
“I expect we will see the likes of Tom Barrass and Liam Duggan step up into those leadership roles,” he said.
“We have got a great young contingent. We are obviously going to go to the draft again very shortly and that will increase the youth, but I look at the young players we have got and I am incredibly optimistic and excited about what the next year or two will look like.”

Duggo would be a great captain. Not sure on Barrass though, as it seemed to affect his game whenever he took the reigns this year.
