It must be said has an Eagles team ever been so consistent in Melbourne? To be honest though this team could well be one of the greatest in the modern era. Have to win b2b though to be in that conversation
Tad premature but our list is definitely primed for good footy for a few years yet our key players are still in there prime for another 2 years at least.

Hurn and Jetta might be the hardest to replace but I am confident we can unearth someone.

Kennedy already has two replacements biding their time. Masten is easily replaced. The rest of the squad still have years left. Credit must go to the recruiters.

We need a couple of elite kicks to replace Hurn and Jetta - None of our young gun HBF's are at their level.

Yeah if one of Kennedy/Darling out in comes Allen or Brander
If one of Cripps, Rioli, Ryan out in comes Petracelli or Venables
If one of Shuey, Yeo, Gaff, Sheed out in comes Smith or Venables
If one ruck out in comes Vardy or Hickey
If McGovern or Barrass out in comes Rotham, Allen, Brander or Schofield
If Jetta or Hurn out in comes Watson

Pretty much depth in every position

Yeah the depth there is slim but I am confident we can develop or trade someone suitable. And who knows, in a couple of years the game might evolve yet again rendering the long rebound kickers obsolete.

Hard to say how much all three have left in the tank. JK you would imagine end of next year I’d happily keep him on for a season or two after on managed games if we are still a chance bloke looks after his body well.

Jetts really worries me he is one decent ping away from retiring imo and is the hardest to replace.

Bunga will soldier on imo will play 3-4 seasons at a high level my gut feel is he will pull the pin himself once he’s had enough

I just hope he isn't too selfless. Hurn can and should be our first 300 gamer. If he's close, let him play through, even if he's struggling a bit.

I'm still annoyed that Glass didn't play a farewell game. These things mean something to supporters and I can't think of a more fitting player to first crack the 300 for WC than Premiership captain Shannon Hurn.

I suggest we give Rotham time. He looked goods in his first game and at U18 he was elite in his kicking off the hbf. He is s long kick and hits targets. He now needs to feel confident and understand the faster pace and I am expecting him to be our Hurn replacement who will learn his craft playing alongside

The Glass one sucked because we weren't any good that year so he could of played and it wasn't as though he wasn't performing it was just his rig wasn't holding up.

Send off's are luxuries.

Jordan Clark will be a target in a couple of years and we should have heaps in the salary cap with a few retirements or lesser contracts.

Weird little RAC plug in the post-Freo game press conference. Was pretty hilariously out of context but obviously something he was told to say.

He was good on AFL 360 tonight. Was reassuring to hear that we ended up seeking clarification from umpires about certain things that have been going on at "both ends of the ground" since the Collingwood game. Seemed like Robbo had heard word that we did and so brought it up, but Simmo stayed strong on it while keeping it classy. Cracked a couple of jokes. Possibly a good watch if anyone can find the footage.

Love the guy. Good media performer, able to play with a straight bat when needed, joke around when not, and defends the club and its players every step of the way. Does things like taking Liam Ryan and Willie Rioli with his family on a holiday to the NT and firmly but diplomatically challenge the AFL and MRP when there is yet another confusing suspension. And of course two GFs and a flag.

I hope he wins another one with us to become the undisputed best WC coach of all time.

Watched his interview on AFL 360 last night. We've been spoilt under his tenure with a Brownlow Medallist, Coleman Medallist, 2 Grand Final appearances in 3 seasons and a premiership. Also a good media performer
Lyon better though according to Leigh Matthews.

Wouldn’t he be equal with Malthouse?

Wouldn’t he be equal with Malthouse?

In terms of flags, yes, but I'd strongly argue that if he jags another one in the era of equalisation and full professionalism that he surpasses Malthouse. The reality is that flags in the 2010s are a lot harder to win than in the 1980s.

Hasn't jumped ship to the Pies either

At this point in time I wouldn't be too unhappy if he chose to go back to North. Confident he's achieved what the fans wanted by adding more silverware to the cabinet and the list is in good shape.
