Hope he goes to the Tigers :) They need to start thinking about the next A grader for their list behind Lids. Treloar is a different animal but he'd bring some much needed class to counterbalance the money all guys.

Witts for pick 4ish, seems legit :drunk:
I never seriously suggested that Witts for Essendon's first rounder was legit. I was just speculating that an up and coming but not yet fully developed young ruck would be more suitable to Essendon than GWS right now.

and not to mention the fact that a fit Bellchambers is far better than anything Witts has produced. His 2013 season was outstanding. "Doesn't have the upside of Witts" indeed
you are correct about 2013. But that was a while ago and Tom has done very little since, injury notwithstanding. Forgetting our respective biases, I would think that the glimpses of talent of a younger Witts would have more benefit to a list like Essendon's, particularly as they haven't shown any interest in keeping Bellchambers anyway.
And I repeat, I did express doubts about getting a first round pick for Witts.

Yes, he has done nothing since then but I'd say if he's ever injury free he's capable of a similar return to 2013 again which = the better upside IMO. He has shown he is capable of it. Witts has not. He is just younger.

Treloar is worth this years first and second picks and next years first.
That sort of price is something you'd pay for Danger, not Treloar.
If he was worth that much why don't you just keep him? Can't afford him in the salary cap? Well, then that's the market forces of the trade period at work.
You may think that Treloar is worth that much but other clubs know you can't afford to keep him (for the $$ he wants) so that drives your bargaining power down.
The Beams trade is an example of this. I could argue he wasn't worth just pick 5, 25 and Crisp. But the reality was that we had very little to bargain with so that drive his trade value down. History shows that both parties did well but at the time we felt ripped off.
One other thing - the trade system doesn't work on comparisons with other trades. Paying a first rounder for Aish doesn't set precedents for other trades. Tom Boyd wasn't worth Ryan Griffen plus a top 10 pick. But it was something the Dogs and Giants were happy to do. Similarly, Mummy was worth more than Boyd but you got him cheaply enough because of the cap pressure the Swans felt

Key word = if
That applies to both Bellchambers and Witts.
It's just a matter of what each respective list manager wants. (and lets face it, neither of us are list managers)

We would like to keep him, as highlighted by our 2 year, $600k a year contract that is under his nose waiting for him to sign.

He just values himself higher than Dylan Shiel, who was more than happy to actually live out his destiny, and finish what they started a few years ago.

Not sell his soul to the highest bidder.

"The closest Treloar will get to Richmond, is when he drives down Punt Road on his way to Collingwood"

"The Treloar/Collingwood deal was done a very long time ago, Treloar's Manager is a liar"

That's from Denham? Isn't that a bit of the pot calling the kettle black?

lol Bellchambers is not very good. Without having Ryder to support him he's been exposed as a very mediocre player. Witts has still got a lot of improvement in him and he's already better than Bellchambers

Touche!

Merely adding the quote into the mix to oppose Bartlett's claims.

Both have about as much credibility as ol Jimmy Hird.

KBs job is to create discussion, arguments, controversy etc. He works in talk back radio ffs. He wouldn't even believe everything he says, he just says it because it's part of the job. Imagine how pointless and boring radio would be if someone said to him, "Hey KB, any mail on Treloar?" and he replied "Not sure, we'll have to wait until trade week to hear from all interested parties." Great radio that would be...

You're wrong. I don't rate Tom that highly and don't like his attitude but he's a pretty decent ruckman/forward. In 2012 & 2013 when he was fit he was very good. He may be no good without Ryder but you can't say that he has been exposed without him based on this season as he played with a knee injury this season while he was on the park. Last year he had a full ankle reconstruction and hasn't been able to get back to his best.. he may never get there again. My point wasn't who is currently better anyway, rather that Bellchambers has shown more ability at his peak than Witts. Which he 100% has done. Either you didn't see him at his best or you're overrating Witts.
