Don't know where to start. A club mega desperate for Treloar! From the outset I think it's you who needs a lobotomy for thinking that.
He's on around 1 Mil? He's on good coin but he's not getting that!
A club like the GC would be a perfect fit a club who were happy to trade pick 1 last year for Treloar. His partner and infant baby are setting up in QLD.
Of course we come out way ahead if we trade Treloar for pick 5 then some, and then swing round and bring in Cameron. Club needs to be ruthless and not pushovers at the trade table. Last time we were stubborn, we didn't budge on Saints demands for Luke Ball in 2009 if you can remember - and then - the rest is history. ;)
Have a good night.
It's been reported that his contract is back-ended, if so, there's almost certainly going to be one and possibly more years where he's on a mil for that season.

Just like how Jeremy Cameron was set to get $1.5mil this year. Not because he's worth $1.5mil a year, but because that's how his contract was structured. Similar story with Buddy's contract.

That's why Collingwood are trying to offload him. Because they know they're extremely unlikely to get value for money/bang for their buck in the latter years of his contract.

Especially if his body is starting to let him down.

That's why a club would have to be mega-desperate to take him and his big contract on and then also pay a premium for him in trade.

That likely pushes his contract close to (if not actually) the $1M/year mark if it’s heavily backended. That’s a massive issue when it comes to a trade.
Doesn't mean it can't be re-negotiated to suit a new club. Still the same amount of money over the term of the deal. Would you expect to be paying much less than the reported $600-$700K (Whatever it is. IMO contract figures are always inflated in the media to make for better reading)

Interesting discussion on his value.

In the situation perhaps the Saints pick around 15 might go relatively close.

GC has #5 seemingly on the table but I think they're almost a special case. No one else will offer quite as much.

Yeah that would be like when they paid pick 2 for Weller. Crazy s**t (unless Collingwood are paying a chunk of his salary).

Weller and Ballard looked pretty good this year for that pick 2.

5 will be on the table, we get a free hit with Davies and Jeffrey both being first round value coming in through the academy.

Whether that pick 5 goes to Collingwood? Who knows. Dew knows we need 1 more quality midfielder in their prime to compete + young player progression to push for finals. Treloar would fill that role nicely, whether he wants to leave Collingwood and come to QLD is another story, has made it very clear he wants to stay on VIC.

So now it's just 'Treloar is anxious about his future'... I'm sure that doesn't have anything to do with the fact that the media is creating an absolute shitstorm out of nothing - oh look, funny that, Sam Edmund said the same:

"Gun Collingwood midfielder Adam Treloar has been left unsettled by talk around his future in recent days, according to SEN Chief Sports Reporter Sam Edmund.

Treloar, 27, publicly committed his future to the club on AFL360 on Tuesday night after Edmund exclusively revealed his partner and Netball star Kim Ravaillion had signed with the Queensland Firebirds for 2021.

After it emerged Treloar would stay in Melbourne and away from his partner and newborn daughter next year, speculation has been rife that he would look to follow Ravaillion to Queensland.

Edmund said while Treloar is still fully committed to the Pies, he has a “layer of anxiety” about where he currently stands at the club.

Adam Treloar remains fully committed to Collingwood and nothing has changed,” he said on AFL Nation.

But my understanding is he has been unsettled by all the chatter around his future for a second year running. I can say that he hasn’t been given any indication by Collingwood that they will or are thinking about trading him and that’s important to note.

“There’s a layer of anxiety there for him about what he hopes is just media chatter and nothing of substance.

“We can say as absolute fact that the Pies considered trading him to Gold Coast just months after signing him to that lucrative contract extension and the club were initially hesitant when they were told that his partner Kim Ravaillion had planned to move to Brisbane without Adam.

“Because the club has been kept in the loop the whole way through, they are said to have got their heads around the unique arrangement and are fully on board.

“Treloar is contracted until the end of 2025, it’s not a small (deal) and it’s back ended too so he’s done the right thing by the club to back end the contract and accept less initially.

“If he is to be traded, it’ll be because the Pies have forced the issue and really got in the trenches to make it happen.

“And if that happens, it might be like walking through the minefield from a PR sense.”

Said this was most likely media BS, but now that it emerges that it's Treloar himself who is 'unsettled by media chatter', it just goes to show how cancerous these PR vultures are - especially when it's a guy who has openly discussed his mental health issues.

Well, if Sam Edmond said it...

Enlighten us all with your knowledge of his contract then matey....
He signed 7 years with 800k a year matey. Now before you respond like a child "Oh yeah because thats loads better" it's still not a million a year.

Plus you don't know if theres any clauses in the contract either.

He's not getting a million a year..
" Brodie Grundy will earn around $1 million a year through a seven-year deal, making him one of the league's highest-paid players "

" The Magpies have secured the All-Australian ruckman's services until the end of 2027 on a deal set to earn him at least $1 million a season over the lifetime of the contract. "

" Grundy’s mammoth deal is reportedly worth $1 million per year and runs until the end of the 2027 season. "

pretty widely reported and accepted that hes on around 1 million a year on average. but keep justifying paying franklin/martin/fyfe/danger money to a pretty good ruckman until he is 33.

None of which confirm he's actually on a million a year, all guesses :straining:
Jog on champ.

Don't you agree a 7 year deal for a Ruckman.is extremely dicey, no matter how much coin he is earning ?;

...but you're doing the exact same thing...

At least he provided some semblance of evidence - where's yours?
exactly. at least i have a legitimate reason to believe grundy is on 1 mil. i simply googled grundy contract (not grundy 1 million or something manipulated), and those are the figures that appeared.

You'd have to be a bit silly to believe the media's reporting of player contracts.

Treloars current deal ends next year. His 4 year extension begins in 2022. Even if his current deal is back ended, and that’s a big if, when his new deal starts his club can pay him any way they see fit, as long as that money adds up the same in the end. The only year to be concerned about front ending/back ending is 2021, and in the absolute worst case scenario Collingwood could pay a small portion of his salary in that year. I’m really not sure why people are making so much of it.

Yep. That HS “top 100 highest paid players” bit earlier this year was peak BS. Multiple player managers came out and said it was way off the mark.
