As I mentioned in another thread.....Between the Royal Adelaide Show and last week's PF I blew $600. This was without going overboard e.g. one round of drinks at the footy and brought food frome home, only one show bag per child at the Show, etc. Would have loved to have gone to the game tonight but would need to sacrifice groceries or mortgage.

How many season ticket holders do Adelaide have? What is the cost of a season ticket? If you could afford a membership/season ticket in the first place, then I'd say you can afford a finals ticket.

You can come up with all the excuses you like, but it was a fairly ordinary effort from the Crows supporters as a whole who didn't turn up to the game. Individuals would have their genuine excuses, but out of all their supporter base, you'd think they could sell out their home ground for a final.

Are you simple? Do you think every Crows fan is a member? You brought membership numbers into this...

If they're not a member than they aren't worth talking about. They either don't care enough to buy in, so they might not buy into finals, or can't afford it, in which case they couldn't afford finals.

AFL ticket prices, SA economy, AFL ticket prices, Crows soft c*ck fans, AFL ticket prices, Freo fans not travelling (not going to make 20k diff), whatever, AFL ticket prices, whatever, AFL ticket prices, whatever....if you have a final without 80% of seats filled, something ain't right...AFL. Cause if you're a fan, why wouldn't you go?

Sigh. Might be worth getting out of Melbourne and understanding life in a city with a limit on seated memberships.

I think the AFL has a major issue with their finals prices and was shown with less then stellar crowds

They should set the price for games as like last week the Gee v Freo games should be cheaper than the Coll v Haw for obvious reasons.

In week 3 of finals, the Swans games ticket prices are double of the NRL! So the AFL has more tv revenue but need to gouge the fans more!! Also why can't they start selling the tickets on 10/9 but will only start selling on the 17/09, since people in Sydney already know they are playing in it???

as a matter of interest:

  • how many members do the crows have?
  • how much was a ticket for members?
  • afl members tickets are $17 and $35 for a guest - is sanfl membership comparable prices (they own that whole wing on the broadcast side after all)?

i can understand gen admin. not being sold out, but members generally get a much better deal, don't they?

Nup, club members pay same price as public.

Six p
It was a disappointing crowd, no doubt about it. But there are factors.

The 8:15pm timeslot would have been a big factor. Its absolute chaos getting out of AAMI Stadium, so you would expect to get home at about 12am, which is not ideal.

Ticket prices would be the next factor. They are pretty expensive, especially if you were going as a family. Then possibly saving up for next week and possibly a GF (Yes, it is still possible).

Bandwagon supporters losing hope would be another small factor.

Is 31,000 a pass, not at all. But it could have been avoided. Put the game on at 7:20pm and lower the prices would have got it near 40,000 I think.

EDIT: As the above poster pointed out, the Royal Adelaide Show is also on right now.

Six people from our work did not go as we did not finish till after 8pm.

The kind of excuses I've read so far on this thread are what you would expect on the LU crowds thread.
AFL fans consistantly make fun of NRL crowds but tonight is a little embarrassing. That was a crowd not indicative of the supposed premier sporting competition in Australia.

what i find stupid in these debates is if you really wanted to go you'd find the money. call it no slab($50) for the week, whatever. we used to have the same problem trying to get cricket dues from players of $20 a week and they used to cry foul yet be able to spend $70 over the bar. they couldnt work out we got the money both ways. some people genuinely cant afford it but most can they just choose not to.

Why on earth would you bother turning up. Fox Footy HD will do me...

Me. I can't afford it. If it was a home prelim next week, then my bank account would have let me go.

Not everyone who is a member is great off financially. I'm a uni student, and concession is still $50. For a semi!

It would have cost $36. Settle down and have another West End.

Finals live against the gate on FTA will have done their dash, somewhat unfortunately. 31k is an appalling crowd in favourable weather conditions, but hopefully, hopefully its better next after we finally staved off the home final choke for once. Not getting the 6:45 WST time start at all, doesn't make an iota of sense.

I think it's worth it. I'd rather watch MCG & Docklands finals live with less people people in the stands rather than see it delayed with some more people there.

adelaide isnt exactly renowned for being cashed up.

The "povo colony" I believe.

Absolutely have no idea why there was such a poor turn out. Majority of people there would've been supremely disappointed. But for us that were there, it was oh so sweet!
