Eagles v North failed to sell out
Where did you see this?

An article on the Tuesday before the game stated...

Sunday's West Coast-North Melbourne elimination final at Patersons Stadium is all but sold out, with 39,500 tickets taken and only a few 'limited position' seats remaining, also available through Ticketmaster.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/146766/default.aspx

Those 'limited position' would be restricted viewing.

Additionally, the final attendance of 41,790 matches up with other sold out games this year.

You can't use Ebay tickets as an example because they've already been bought!!!

first of all probably not too pair comparing WA disposable income to SA.... but for what its worth i think Freo supporters bought extra tickets to try and silence out the noise.... probably a bit crazy but who knows...

This phrase gets bandied around a lot as if everyone in WA is involved in the mining sector. They're not.
why you blokes so defensive over there in WA..... i can pull the data for you if you like... its what i do for work.....

Also a factor in comparing WA and SA crowds is the relative size of each state ~2.5mil for WA (Subi holds ~44k) and ~1.5mil for SA (FP holds ~48k). Not that WA teams should have 5/3s the home finals crowd (though WCE could draw 50k+ if not for stadium size) but they're not directly comparable either. 31k is still goddamn awful though.

doesn't stop the crows averaging 36000+ in the normal season - to get 31k to a final is simply downright poor

You're calling bollocks on determinable facts?

You are wrong. SA is in recession. How on earth did you think you were qualified to mouth off?
You're bringing facts into this.... what are you trying to do watch his world crumble...its like this
i said so so im right because i know more than you just because!!!

i posted this in a thread earlier in the week about the potential poor crowd.

it's simplistic say that people are just choosing not to go. it actually costs a lot of money, in a short space of time to attend the finals. for a family (or a couple even) if you were unlucky enough to not get in early, it cost you $80 each last week. then, potentially in the same pay cycle people a needing to cough up again. so that could be $320 out of one pay. some just wouldnt have the money to go whether they wanted to or not.

some think it's a pathetic excuse, but it's Royal Show time as well, which is easily a $200 day without trying for a family.

how many people have $500 spare to throw around in a week?

Finals tickets are way more expensive this year

Certainly impacts on a second home final
Exactly.

Members who pay for the season should get a discount, rather than paying double a normal game.

yep they could. if the parents weren't so selfish to deprive their kids of something they look forward to all year..
The idea that Adelaide people are so frugal but still go to the show every year to blow cash sounds suspect to me.

I know very few families in WA that would go to the Royal Show every year. Perhaps that's why we can go to the football...

Considering Adelaide don't have home finals every year, perhaps the parents could grow a pair and make a mature decision instead of loading their kids with candy to shut them up.

Port would (and has) be pilloried for similar Semi-Final crowds (30,613 vs Hawthorn, SF2001; 27,661 vs Essendon SF2002; 36,557 vs Essendon SF2003).

Not sure why the expense of finals tickets/The Show/Truro Trash'n'Treasure/The dyeing of Keith Conlon's beard count as worthy excuses when the shoe is on the other foot.

Having the show on this week makes it bloody hard for families. On top of last week, with the show and tickets for this week, families are looking at close to $1000. I'll be there every bloody week, but I can understand the lack of people this week. 31k was poor though, agree there.

the idea that you feel Adelaide people have to justify their actions to a bunch of teenage girls from WA on an internet forum sounds suspect to me.

This thread is everything that is wrong with the stupid bullshit stereotypes and crap that people peddle as fact.
A. I dont ****ing drink. Teetotaler
B. I could not afford to go to the show ( My three kids would love to have gone)
C. I could not afford to go to the footy (I would have loved to)
D. I am a self confessed bogan, (come from very low socio-economic area/family) but at 34 I decided to get an education I deserved and in 6 months time I will graduate with a double degree
E. Put into perspective the sacrifices I am making now like not going to the footy for my family ( I send my kids to private school because education is more important than footy)
F. This state is in serious financial trouble
G. Did I mention I love footy and would have loved to have gone tonight
H. Shit I identify as Aboriginal, want me to piss on few more of your stereotypes about Adelaide and their fans. FU you bloody elitist, wealthy hobnobs who obviously have more money than they know what to do with. Good on you you earnt it, but dont pretend to be better than those who love footy but simply cant afford that luxury (or foxtel for that matter).
I. Go the fXXking Crows

I must have missed the memo that stadiums must be filled out. It is nice when it happens but when it doesn't then it doesn't. We don't need an inquest into why.

I don't feel like that at all. I'm ambivalent to the whole thing. I'm just contesting some of the rubbish excuses I've read on here from people who are clearly very defensive and trying to deflect.

Why that's the case, I don't know. I couldn't care less what other West Coast fans do.
