i very much doubt 20k crows fans at the G next week considering your poor home final support...........lets be honest id say 5k.

Well in 2009 against Collingwood in a semifinal there was somewhere between 10k to 15k at the ground.

This game has a perfect time and we do have a good supporter base in Melbourne to boot.

Perhaps not 20k but certainly between 10k to 15k. Mark my words.

Yet our highest membership statistic outside Victoria doesn't?

It's all supply and demand mate

Anyone can give up a Victorian teams membership for a year or two and it doesn't matter

No one wants to give up an eagles membership because you have a waiting list

As it's so hard to get tickets to an eagles match, people lend their memberships to friends and family when they aren't using them

Once you increase supply to 60,000 then you'll find that you'll fill the stadium for when the big teams are visiting but you'll have heaps of empty seats when teams down the bottom visit

It'll be great for eagles fans as there should be more cheaper tickets and memberships too

as a matter of interest:

  • how many members do the crows have?
  • how much was a ticket for members?
  • afl members tickets are $17 and $35 for a guest - is sanfl membership comparable prices (they own that whole wing on the broadcast side after all)?

i can understand gen admin. not being sold out, but members generally get a much better deal, don't they?

Seriously, I don't think Victorians realize what an incredibly good deal they get with AFL memberships.

Only difference between a member and general for these games has been when you could buy tickets - no price break for members.

For a family of four here to go to qualifying, prelim and GF, the the total cost will be almost $2000.
I don't blame people for staying home.

Traditionally the crows have never had a problem with crowds, that honour belongs to Port Adelaide. I was there, I agree shit crowd, I looked around and couldn't believe it but there were reasons. Not as if it is consistently a problem though, they had 44k the week before. It was the loudest 31k crowd I've ever heard.

But the thing is, the crows crowds aren't what they were in the 90's, the Modra factor pulled in an extra 5-7k on average through the gate every week, so a 45-46k crowd in the minor round, was not unusual at all.

I think they boo the most of any crowd, every contest is a boo... I imagine them booing while lining up for a pie at half time...

Everyone has got it wrong, they are not 'Booing' they are 'Mooing', hence why they are called the Adelaide Cows.

Moooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I'm not in favour of high ticket prices, but AFL Finals tickets are still relatively low in price compared to major sports in other countries. I know it isn't entirely appropriate to use different sports/markets/populations, etc. ... but AFL finals tickets are not such a bad deal in my opinion. There are going to be many people who can't afford them, but such is the way of the world.

As some perspective ... I live in Austin, TX. It has a smaller population than Perth/Adelaide, although there are other large population centres (Dallas, Houston, San Antonio) within several hours drive. A ticket in the bleachers to a regular Longhorns football game costs $90. If you want a good ticket, you will be paying a few hundred bucks. The stadium holds 105,000. The economy over here is in a worse state than Australia, and in general everything is much cheaper here ... but sporting tickets are not one of those things.

Take out the MCC and AFL members and then compare. They don't pay $55- to go to the game like the AAMI stadiumembership had to!
They only pay hundreds per year....

BUT DANGERFIELD IS BETTER THAN COTCH... Oh wait...
Yeah, must've been the ticket prices!

Terrible time to start, makes it tough for country folk to come to the game. I think freo having to travel two weeks in a row might have ment that some of their fans could afford to come down.
Lots of media here is saying well two home finals in a row and the royal show is on at the moment as well and it all costs money which is true but i dont think that had much of an effect.

I think it was just we played poorly last week and many supporters probably werent too confident that we would get the right result.

Despite the low numbers overall the buzz and noise was really great, at least from where i was sitting which was the fuller side.

The crowd was disappointing, losing to Sydney the week before definitely made a difference. Where I was sitting there were heaps of seats around us, still plenty of good vibes though.

It is ALL about the price of tickets, Adelaide is not Perth, nor Melbourne nor Sydney for that matter.

I'm a Crows supporter who went to the first final, but didn't go to the second one (I was working). Reality was that of the 5 people I went to the first one with, none went to the second final. Why? Cost, plain and simple.
I have a silver membership that results in a cost of about $25 per match for my seat.
Suddenly in a final that seat is now a Gold ticket and costs $70. If I want a decent seat its $80+

For many supporters with kids etc..., that is a very costly outing. It also happens to be the same time as the Royal Show (which is the most overpriced piece of shit ever). This is the same every year and every year (when we make finals that is) the AFL question the poor crowd in Adelaides finals.

Drop the ticket price so people can afford to attend and you will sell out the place. The AFL are pricing themselves out of the market because of the 'premium event'. What BS. It is about supply and demand. At those costs the demand is low. Simple.

Are people citing the Royal Show being serious? That is the pissiest excuse I've ever heard...

"Finals are to expensive for the children" is weak too since most people in all cities deal with this by not taking their kids to finals (anecdotal observation admittedly, but next time you're at a final take a look around to see how many people under 16 you can see).

why? what's wrong with going to the Show?

Family of 4 can get into AAMI for $90 for semi final. I'd say that is good value.
Most expensive kids ticket is $21.50.

really? i nabbed the cheapest ticket available for myslf and it cost me $51. (including booking fee)
so are they selling family tickets for cheaper than 2 adult tickets?

why? what's wrong with going to the Show?

Nothing wrong with going to a Royal Show, it's just very lame to suggest an event aimed at young families and agriculture enthusiasts is why many thousands of Adelaide supporters who managed to rock up last week didn't rock up this week.
