Nathan Bassett- One of the most courages players you will see ever play the game, and a very passionate player who hardly ever steps out of hand. Very unlucky to miss out on All- Australian selection last season.
Coming into his final stages of his career, looks set to have another great season with the Crows. Might just shake up a few selectors on the Hall of Fame comittiee.
Rhett Biglands- Has to take the work load in the ruck for the Crows in 2006. Was the second-teer ruckman for the Crows, but after round 20, after Hudson (Crows main ruckman) went down, Biglands will need to play a huge part if the Crows are going to be succesful. A hard working ruckman that does go around the ground and kick the awkward goal or two. Will get some help from Matthew Clarke in a few games, also a young kid, Meesen might come in a help Biglands out.
Nathan Bock- Suprised everyone when the young kid came into the side against St.Kilda back in round 9 and took Nick Reiwoldt (St.Kilda captain) to the cleaners, Bock had a day out, and now has found himself as the Crows Centre Half Back, gets the job on the Great Centre Half Forwards every game, and usually does a good job on them.
Matthew Bode- Had a horror 2005 season with injuries. The talented utility has a work load that never stops, the little player can only kick maximum of 45 metres, but has a penertrating left foot that hardly missess it's target. Might be on his last chance for the Crows or the 25 year old might be looking to the door for another team.
Brett Burton- Had a pretty good season on the wing in 2005. Wasnt the best season he has played over the past years, but good enough for him to be called on of the best winman in the game. A tall wingman who can go forward and kick a few goals, or can go back and save a few goals. Burton has been made famous with his high marking, sometimes gets his jumps wrong and gives away free kicks.
Matthew Clarke- Last season for the Crows in 2006 for Matthew Clarke. Only played 4 games last year, 3 including finals. Urguably the best tap ruckman in the compettion, and maybe even over the decade that he has been playing for. Clarke will have to help out Biglands come 2006, after that it is going to be a lean year for Clarke.
Michael Doughty- The Crows utility, can suprise us a few times, can come on the ground and have a impact and nearly win a game, yet then again can come on a have a shocker. 27 years old, coming into his veteran years of the club, needs to really take that extra step if he is going to become a regular in the Crows line-up.
Richard Douglas- Medium Defender with terrific workrate, clean hands and footy smarts. Won TAC Coaches Award this year Victoria Metro U18\'s and selection TAC Cup Team of the Year. Topped off a great year winning Calder Cannons Best and Fairest Award. Former Assumption College Best and Fairest. Super impressive at NAB AFL Draft Camp with speed agility and endurance all in the top 15% categories. From Broadford FC.
Tyson Edwards- urguably the most under ratted player in the compettion. Has blistering pace and speed and has the most silkiest feet in the compettion, it is very hard to turn Tyson Edwards in side out, he will catch you every time. Expect him to play more as a forward in 2006 and see if he can kick 20 goals or more.
Chad Gibson- Big, strong key position prospect who likes to hit the packs hard. Is an excellent athlete with exceptional mobility and the Crows see him as a future centre half-forward. Had a taste of senior football with Norwood in the last three games of 2004.
Simon Goodwin- All- Australian in 2005, and what a great year it was for Goodwin aswell. Not only did he play brilliant in the midfield, he aslo went to the goals and kicked over 20 goals for the season. The sweeper in the Crows midfield and has a penertrating left foot that can go a mile.
Jonathan Griffin- A development ruckman who played with East Fremantle Colts in 2004. Is lightly-framed, but has good skills. At 200cm tall, he is very mobile for his size.
Ben Hart- Approaching 300 games in the first few rounds in 2006, and what a career it has been for the 31 year old. Has been through the good and bad times for the Crows, played in both the Crows premierships and did a good job in both of them. Here he is now, the Crows leading games record holder and looks set to keep it aswell. Still another 2 years let in Hart, dont expect him to go to soon, if the Crows are playing well, then Hart is playing well, and if the Crows are playing well then Hart will stay.
Trent Hentschel- Strated to show the potential everyone was talking about late in the 2005 season, kicked 5 goals against Collingwood back in round 19 and kicked 25+ goals for the season. Dont expect him to play much back this season, because that young kid is a forward player, and looks to be the Crows Full Forward for another decade to come.
John Hinge- Played a handful of games with Glenelg under-19s in 2004, but spent most of the season with his country club, Mundulla, and played in its senior finals side. Has explosive pace, takes a good mark and knows how to kick goals.
Ben Hudson- Had a tragic injurie late in the 2005 season. Stared his career as a very late comer, was 25 when he was drafted by the Crows in 2004. Is a ruckman that doesnt just do the tap work then leaves it for his on ballers to do the rest, he was the Crows best clearence player up till he got injuried. Is a ruckman that gets down for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th effort, and the Crows will miss him till he gets back.
Luke Jericho- The young kid just couldnt get a game at the Crows because of the Crows with no injuries. Was emergency over 12 times last season but just couldnt break his way through the cattle. Has got blistering pace, and a good kick at goal. Might just see him come in a few games in 2006.
Graham Johncock- Forward, Midfeild or Back? Johncock can play some many positions it is hard to find out where to put him. Showed he is a forward in the 2004 season where he kicked 4 goals in the showdown against Port, showed he is a backman last season with his skill and cool actions coming out from defence.
Chris Knights- A left-footed midfielder who wins plenty of the ball, he has good skills and endurance. From the Eastern Ranges, he represented Victoria Metro at the 2003 and 2004 National Bank's AFL Under-18 Championships.
Ivan Maric- A former basketballer who is still learning the game. Is an excellent prospect and was a member of the Calder Cannons' 2004 premiership side. Developing ruckman with a big leap and an excellent attitude.
Kris Massie- Utility that has suprisingly very fast speed. Was chasing a player down in a game last season, i think he was chasing Judd and caught him red handed, The Blues gave away a pretty handy player, but hasnt shown that he is a handy player for the Crows yet.
Martin Mattner- The best and the leader of the Crows "back bone group" Had a stellar 2005 season, the Crows wingman/defence men has the pace to take on anyone in the compettion. Love to tuck the ball under his arm and have a gallop, kicking on the run for goal is his specialty, but has a bit of an awrkward kick style in front of goal from a set shot.
Ken McGregor- suprised alot of people back in round 3 when he kept Tredrea goal less, The Crows fans thought the McGregor would be our main backman, but the Craig did the move to McGregor up forward, and didnt it work like a treat. McGregor finished the season of with 25+ goals and looks set to be the Crows main Centre Half Forward this season.
Andrew Mcleod- Was very unlucky to be not named All- Australian backman. Had a stellar season which saw him captain the Aussie againts the Irish in the International Rules Series. Played back for the whole season and was the Crows general down their, might just see McLeod strut his stuff in the midfield again this season.
John Messen- Strong marking ruckman around the ground or up forward. Impressive for Victoria Country in National Bank's AFL U18 Championships this year. His 10.44sec for the 3km time trial at the Draft Camp was super impressive for a ruckman, being in the top 10% overall. From Modewarre FC.
Alan Obst- Tall defender or key forward who was Adelaide's fourth pick at the 2005 national draft. From Gawler, he has played for Central District.
Ian Perrie- Has one of the hugest tanks in the compettion, has the tank to run out a game full of running. Takes the diving mark which is becoming a feature of his game, still isnt the best Crows players you want having a set shot at goal, but is getting better, and he will get even better this season. Wont be suprised if he kicks nearly 40 goals this season.
Darren Pfeiffer- Medium forward/defender who played senior football in SANFL this year. Very good ball winner, has great courage and is a strong mark, winning All-Australian U18 honours this year. His standing vertical jump of 72cm was ranked No 1 at the NAB AFL Draft Camp which indicates his power and agility also ranked in the top 20%. From Birdwood FC.
Jason Porplyzia- Was taken of the Crows lists at the end of 2003, but the Crows have seen a different player from what they saw in 2003. Porplyzia is a small running midfield/forward that can hurt you when he plays forward.
Brent Reilly- Stared for the Crows late in 2004-2005, but once the Crows had no injuries Reilly started to fall away from the pack and now might just find himself in a difficult position to get himself back in.
Mark Ricciuto- Was very missed by the Crows in the 1st final against the Saints after rubbing himself out with a elbow to Adam Selwood's check. Has been one of the best players the game and Adelaide have ever seen, 9 time All- Australian, best and fairest winner, pemierships, name anything and Ricciuto has done it all.
Ben Rutten- suprised everyone when the middle of the 2005 season was the best backman in the compettion. Kept the good season going into the 2nd past of the season and now finds himself 22 years old, 30+ games and a All- Austrlaian full back. Dont be suprised if more awards come Rutten's way in the future ahead.
Robert Shirley-Has become the Crows man for tagging, After Stenglien left for South Austrlaia the door opened for Shirley and he certainly took it, not the best tagger in the compettion, but is defiently becoming a good tagger.
Hayden Skipworth- Has been on the Crows list for a while now, and still hasnt presented himself as a threat to other teams. He showed what he can do, when he kick 4 goals against the Kangaroos, and won the Crows the game. Need to take the next step to get a spot in the Crows outfit.
Scott Stevens- Has been on the Crows list for 3 years now and hasnt presented himself. The forward player might play a few games in 2006, but i wont be suprised if he is traded at the end of the season.
Scott Thompson- Urguably the trade of the Year, after Nathan Thompson to the Kangaroos, Scott would be up their for the best trade. He is a young half forward/ midfield player that is very strong in the packs. Only needs to work on is his anger, was the 3rd player in the compettion for frees against, and thats not t what the Crows need. Some saying next captain of the Crows, and is very likely true.
Jason Torney- Vetran at the club now. Played a few games in 2005 and played well in all games. The defender looks set to play more games in 2006 in the midfield.
Nathan Van Berlo- An athletic footballer who can play in a variety of positions, Van Berlo seems best suited to a midfield role. The West Perth youngster shone at the 2004 National Bank's Draft Camp with an excellent beep test and agility run.
Bernie Vince- Drafted with the club's No 32 pick at the 2005 national draft from Woodville-West Torrens, where he played four league games last season.
Scott Welsh- The Crows main Full Foward. Kicked 58 goals in 2005 which was a fantastic effort, kicked 9 against the Tigers and had some dry games where he only kicked 1-2 goals. Expect him to kick over 60+ goals and take that extra step to becoming one of the best full fowards in the compettion.
