Why the firesale when its not needed - surely there are heads there smart enough to set a compensation benchmark contract that if not reached, we keep him. And if that figure was 4 years at $550K for example, how the hell is bad considering Matt is still mid 20's. If that figure is reported to be true and for 2 years, they are likely paying Frampton more...frightening stuff
A lowball offer indicates the club has no interest whatsoever in keeping a player and is more just making sure they have a job in case the league is also not interested in them. If we offer a lowball contract to Crouch, that tells you our intentions from the get-go (much like any player).
It is worth noting we should be shit-scared of committing long term to any senior players who aren't in that A-grade category. Even more so if we choose to retain someone who lacks a point of difference in our side.
