On Friday night at the SANFL it was rumoured that a young Oliver Davis from Tasmania has been offered a potential MSD spot with you guys and has been asked to relocate to Adelaide and play for your SANFL side. I believe he is heading over this week and should be available for the game against Centrals

THE standing of the TSL and Tasmania’s development pathway appears to have taken another massive hit with the state’s best young footballer set to leave for South Australia.

Last year’s Matthew Richardson medallist, Oliver Davis, is believed to be on the verge of relocating to Adelaide to play in the SANFL.

Davis, who was also crowned Clarence’s 2020 best and fairest, was selected in the TSL team of the year and captained Guilford Young College to the state premiership in a breakout campaign, was extremely unlucky not to get picked in last year’s national draft.

Saw the Suns get smashed on the weekend and their 2nd gamer Jai Farrer (sp.?) actually held his own and I think they mentioned he was previously a Crows top up player. Any SANFL watchers got thoughts on him...?

Halls Creek boy and good friends with McAdam, apparently. Definitely held his own, and plus some. Looked very polished playing out from the back.

He's injured now and we'll definitely be playing him.

The only way we get a player of Horne's ilk is to finish bottom 2 or in the unlikely event Horne stinks it up or gets a serious on field injury this season.

With the Championships again being played this year he would need to be seriously outshone by others at the Carnival to fall out of the pointy end calculations.

you would know better than most in answer to this, but reading the draft boards it looked like there were a number of very highly rated mids eligible this year from the talk there. Be that as it is, if we can't get into a position to get Horne, a finish in the bottom 6 would still be likely to yield a very high end young mid this year in your opinion?

Yes there is absolutely, but at this point there are really only 2 vying for the No.1 spot IMO Horne and Daicos then a pretty even group IMO in the next 6 or so....but it's early days.

what would be great is if we end up with a top 5 pick this year (say we finish 14th). To then somehow engineer another mid 1st rounder to grab 2 of the highly rated mids this year would be excellent and help push our rebuild into the next gear. We have to nail the draft this year to round out the core of the youth to take us towards our next premiership...fingers crossed

Let's say we got pick 6, and let's say for some reason Matt Crouch got offered $700k (yes, I know) - using pick 6 and 7 or using pick 1 is a difficult decision, if that was offered.
