I'm well aware of that criteria. I genuinely think Wellman was that good in those 34 games that he was worth much more. FWIW, I really didn't watch him play very much at Essendon other versus the Crows or finals. I usually can't stand to to watch the Dons play.
Did he play that well or was the rest of the side that bad?
Remember 1994 (Cornes) and 1995 (Shaw) wont go down as 2 of our finest years in the AFL and some very ordinary player got an opportunity to play.
I will take your word for it that he was a very good player in the AFC jumper but when I found out he played 34 games I was surprised, I thought it was more like 10 – 15. I can not remember him playing.
