I'm well aware of that criteria. I genuinely think Wellman was that good in those 34 games that he was worth much more. FWIW, I really didn't watch him play very much at Essendon other versus the Crows or finals. I usually can't stand to to watch the Dons play.

Did he play that well or was the rest of the side that bad?

Remember 1994 (Cornes) and 1995 (Shaw) wont go down as 2 of our finest years in the AFL and some very ordinary player got an opportunity to play.

I will take your word for it that he was a very good player in the AFC jumper but when I found out he played 34 games I was surprised, I thought it was more like 10 – 15. I can not remember him playing.

Maybe I have rose-tinted glasses. But as a young KP defender Wellman really stood out for me. His disposal was excellent. Very accountable defender. Averaged over 10 disposals and 2.8 marks a game. He was the lynchpin of our defence in those days, both defensively and offensively.

I'm just glad I wasn't involved in this draft now. I would have got drilled by you guys I think. I'm sort of nervous about how I'm going to go at the fantasy draft.

LMOA – you would have done fine and will have no problems constructing a sold squad of player in the new one.

You couldn’t have done any worse than me as I picked Fergus Watts, Daniel Shell and Luke Jericho (but I am happy with my 22).

Mad Dog for me - main weakness is full back, but Robran could always go back with Bone playing as a key forward.
