Autopsy Adelaide Crows round 15

Negatives
-Some poor decisions made by players with ball in hand in the last didn't help the cause today. Players just seem to panic as soon as the tide turns.
-Naitanui has been poor since the bye
-Abother game where we allowed a team to get an extended run on

Positives
-Sheppard
-Cole
-First three quarters

Our defence was excellent all day and even once the midfield stopped, they battled manfully to keep us in the game.

Sucks big time that after having controlled the first 3 quarters, we couldn't finish the job in the last quarter.

Negatives:
- Fraser Mcinnes provides nothing
- A few of the boys dancing in the changeroom for the camera....when they hadnt achieved anything for the last too weeks and today.

Positives
+ First three quarters.
+ Tom 'Slow' Cole.
+ Sheppard.
+ Thank god for Yeo.
+ Best game since Essendon.

Players mistaking intensity as making rush decisions maybe?

Perhaps, eg as an example McInnes in the last is free in the wing, has Gaff on the inside for a handball over the top.

Instead he bombs it forward and straight down the throat of a Crows players.

A few others as well.

Needed cool heads in the last and everyone just pretty much did the exact opposite

- Something is seriously wrong with Natianui and our whole midfield has crumbled without him
Yeah, conceding first use in the 4th was a killer. And very un-Nic Nat-like. Something ain't right. He was poor.

Can't say enough about Shep though. Legendary performance from him.

Playing your best midfielder at full back when the midfield struggled to get supply all day was wise.. Defence battled manfully considering

Last week Simpson was criticized for not playing McGovern forward, Yeo had to cover for that.

Damned if you do, damned if you dont

Don’t believe it’s doom and gloom. Most clubs with the caliber of players we have out will struggle.

Problem areas for me are that even on their good days NN and a Lycett just don’t take enough marks and outside the ruck contest are pretty much non existent.
Rioli and a Ryan are both young and will do some amazing things at times but that simply does not make a good AFL footballer, they have to find the ball much more and obviously are better with our main forwards playing. Both were passengers today.

Jetta has been a poor to average player for 9 years and it’s baffling how he could play league at East Perth let alone for the Eagles.

The whole structure changes when our forwards are back and for now we need to somehow find a couple of wins.

Positives
- Been coming up with different ways to lose the last 3 games. Very impressive.

This game needed to be a gameplan win and almost was pulled off. Don't allow that late goal in the 3rd and the Crows don't have the sniff they needed. They get their run on in the last and we're farked, because we can't stop run ons. Seen it in several games this year, not just in this losing stretch.
The one moment was Cripps not just locking the ball in and instead he tried to kick it out of the back in the Crows fwd line. Just dumb football and no need for it. Loose ball spills to the goal square and Walker goals.

Just needed that full concentration and not a stupid panic decision to mitigate things. Go into the last with a 4.5 goal lead and just hold them at bay and grind it out.

It’s the coaching equivalent of “Kick it!” “Not there!”

“Make changes!”
“Not those changes!”

Yeah i don't think the Yeo or Gov positioning had a significant factor in choking that one away. We lost that in the midfield and more to the point we lost it by willingly shutting down our own momentum, and giving them a sniff. It was 90% mental. And losing a mental battle to Tex Walker is among the most embarrassing things that can happen in the AFL. That's akin to losing a foot race to Matt Priddis or a beauty contest to Cameron Ling.

- Teams must surely have the notion now that we’re the mentally softest side in the competition.
- Jetta with another witches hat performance.
- McInnes not AFL standard.
- Nic Naitanui is either carrying an injury or is slack. Hoping it’s the former.
- Great start to the season now cooked. If the Pies belt GCS tonight that’d be a bad result.

+Tommy Cole with a couple of fantastic efforts. Will only develop further.
+Shepp immense again.
+Shuey showed glimpses of returning to form.
