Hey,

I'm going to Adelaide to see Adelaide V Freo, but I've been there many times but never had enough time to do check out the nightlife, but spending more time so I'll have the energy and the time for once :D

But yeah I've got everything planned except for things to do at night, just need some recommendations, the only place I know which is meant to be good is HQ.

Please help :p

Yeah I'm not into the pub scene as much, but my friend whos coming along would be though, I'd be looking more into clubs though. It also doesn't matter if places are out of the city as I'm driving over, so location is no issue for me :D haha

Depends how old you are. I agree though, don't go to HQ (will get shot) or electic circus (fiends, huge entry and line). Sat night is hugely hit and miss in Adelaide. Jive, Rocket on Hindley, Distill on Rundle St is alright upstairs. Used to go to Electric Light but haven't been there for ages.

If you want pop punk then rocket bar is probably what you'd be after. Hindley st. Same complex as Electric Circus (which is best club in adelaide). Mojo West does the whole pop punk thing as well but last time i was there it was deadish. Might be worth a look...also on Hindley St (100m down the rd from rocket bar)

Vodka Bar is another club worth a look. Plenty of birds. House music. Also on Hindley St (in between Rocket bar and Mojo).

On Rundle St, Distill is good. Sugar is just down the st a bit and Fumo Blu, which is more cocktail bar, is a little further on as well. If you wanna go a few streets over, youve Savvy which is always popular with house music and Garage Bar adjacent to each other.

adelaide nightlife lmao

seriously thought for the hottest chicks..vodka bar and savy (if it is still open)

if u don't pick up go to pj obriens at 2am

good brothels...if u like ugly junkies

ur 21 ur laughing..u don't want to be 28 plus and single in adelaide...

I might add to my earlier statement post, that I dont mind Swish on North Tce. Usually where we go to when a group of us from work head out.

Syke :thumbsu:

If you want to sink beers and play golf at the same time, head to the Tap Inn at Kent Town.

You legend!

I was gonna ask about some place called Syke, but felt kinda dumb asking as it might of not existed, but I thought it was called Skye :p..thats why I could never find anything about it lol

Thanks for all the other suggestions tho people :)

If you like a bit of Indie Rock (both live music and DJs on the same night), then Plus One at The Ed Castle on Currie Street is pretty good on Saturday nights. Cheap drinks, good music, good friendly crowd without any trouble. Jive and Supermild are good for that as well, and The Electric Light is decent on Saturday nights too. There's a fair few quality Indie nights on every week, which is good if you're into that sort of thing.

If you like mainstream stuff, then the Dog & Duck is probably the way to go. The Duke, Swish and The Stag are alright for mainstream stuff as well, but they have their bad points as well IMO.

If you like electro/alternative dance stuff, then Electric Circus, Rocket Bar (depending what's happening there), Red Square or Mojos is probably the go. The King's Head goes alright for that as well. Front room at The Dog has some decent electro too.

If you're a bit of a metalhead, punk, or like stuff along the lines of Guns N' Roses, Enigma Bar is probably the place for you. Syke at The Electric Light on Friday nights is alright for that too, but that's more of a punk/hardcore kind of scene.

If you're after a bit more of a classy place that has some dance music, then either Distill, Vodka Bar or Savvy is the probably place for that.

HQ is more of the hardcore clubbing kind of thing. It's pretty big, but it's also a bit out of the way (bit of a walk from most places). It's not that bad there really (they've cleaned it up a fair bit), but it's not for everyone.

If you like to watch a bit of sport while you have a beer, The Rosemont or the sports bar at the Casino is the place for that in the city.

The Exeter, The Crown & Sceptre, The Botanic and even The Austral (although that gets a bit rowdier on Saturday nights) are good for a reasonably quiet drink in a good atmosphere, and also have some interesting live music and DJs from time to time as well.

I'd avoid places like The Woolshed, Mansions, The London Tavern, The Elephant, PJ's and the Casino (unless you're desperate and over 40, then the cas is probably where you'll pick up). Just drunk dero central most of the time (both guys and girls) IMO.

I've lived in Adelaide my whole life, and there's not much trouble around really. Most places have decent security guards who aren't ********s, but still don't take crap and keep things pretty well under control. In the years since I turned 18 (I'm 21 now) I've only seen a couple of fights in my time around the place, and they've been broken up (and the offenders thrown out into the street) pretty quickly. Just people who were way too drunk. If you don't try and cause trouble, and are generally friendly, then I'd say 95% of people won't have a problem with you, because there doesn't seem to be many of the 'just out for a fight' types in Adelaide from my experience. If you do happen to see some trouble (there's sometimes some fiery arguments between very drunk people in Hindley Street as the night wears on), don't get involved and don't stand there staring, and you should be fine. That probably goes for anywhere you go in any city really, but yea, just saying that Adelaide nightlife is generally pretty safe and friendly most of the time.

If you like Electro/House music, then I'd highly recommend HQ and Red Square.

If you go to HQ though, try and get in before 11 because the entry fee sky rockets.

Red Square Friday + HQ Saturday = Prime weekend.. just completed it :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Thanks for the very detailed response Damon, pretty much summed up all the major places for me :p and yeah we're gonna also watch the Collingwood game(my friend whos coming goes for collingwood so gotta watch it) at the Casino then probably hit Syke and take it from there, and check out some of the other places (and go more mainstream or whatever) recommened on Thursday (assuming it's ok on Thursdays) and Saturday for a tiny bit.

and thanks for the tip on HQ with entry.

There is always Norwood and Glenelg as well

or Elizabeth and Salisbury if you're feeling adventurous :-D

Yeah I'm actually staying in Glenelg :D...thats going to be our main base hahaha...would probably end up being to tired Saturday night after the game for the city, just would just walk around there lol

I've heard about Elizabeth, not good things though :D
