Adelaide isn't shit... it's quiet, clean, safe, beautiful, affordable real estate. great to bring up a family in and settle down.

But it has a shit nightlife. If partying is what you are into.

If you think Adelaide is a happening place u are seriosuly kidding yourself, haven't experienced decent nightlife or haven't travelled.

I have partied overseas and in every state except NT. Adelaide certainly isn't as bad as you're making it out to be - what's with the chip on the shoulder?

Going by your username I would assume you're in your mid thirties - maybe middle aged men don't fit in so well in Adelaide because we have such a young party scene? :thumbsu:

Thanks for the tips guys.

Ended up watching the GF at Alma Tavern in Norwood. Great atmosphere out there in the bear garden. Top day.

Sunday drank at Glenelg Peir Hotel before moving on to the Grand. The Grand was awesome. Was impressed with the place being packed out on a Sunday night. High quality of women and good music (Andy Murphy was playing).

Went to Savy's after that. Was okay but I was pretty stuffed by this stage so headed home.

Hindley St was the absolute pitts. Poor mans version of King's Cross. Women there were terrible. Also went to that massive club near Macca's (can't remember the name) but that was also terrible.

it's sweet everybody defending Adelaide. I love the city and it is where i choose to live. But if I was single I wouldn't be here.

IMO nicest city in Australia but quiet and pretty boring. but thats what i like.

Club 58? Possibly the crappiest, filthiest venue in Adelaide. Smells like a portaloo when you walk past there.

Good to hear you enjoyed yourself for the most part :thumbsu:

The club you're probably talking about is HQ. It's one of those places that gets hyped up so much that you just have to check it out , but no one really ever goes back. It's for the 18/19 year old immature tough guys , not surprised you didn't enjoy yourself there.

If anyone has any reviews on Heaven, I would love to hear them.

Looked packed last week, the set out looks very odd to say the least, I mean, a cathedral?

Apparently it is amazing, however a 2 hour line up is ridiculous. But HQ was pretty popular when it was frist opened, the hype will die down and we will see just how strong the places are.

IMO st pauls isnt that good of a clubbing venue

went to lavish last night, as an asian, i was not prepared to see so many of my fellow yellows out there. wasnt used to it. decent RnB club though, and cant go wrong with $5 Alize all night

Gone to Adelaide for the footy with mates for the last three years - seemed to have done the same things each time. Stayed in Glenelg, head into the city one night - usually go to the Dog n Duck or Red Square followed up with the casino, and spend the rest of the time in Glenelg going to the Grand or the backpackers.

Might have to change our plans for next seasons trip as a result of a post Port Adelaide victory celebration getting a little out of hand in the room in our usual hotel and racking up a $200 cleaning bill. The tips for nights are appreciated, would be good to change things up. That said, I am quite fond of the Grand - I don't think there is an easier place in Australia to pick up.

DognDuck and reds are shit, im 20 and im already over those places. Apple is pretty decent and hq is pretty scummy but worth going to. Haven't been to heaven yet, doubt i ever will. grand is awesome on sundays. tbh i dont really go to many clubs anymore, prefer pubs now and i dont go out on saturdays that much. Thurdays are pretty epic, not as packed and theres no scum or trouble.

dog n duck was decent 2 years ago when i just hit 18, so many ethnics there these days seeing as its so easy to pick up. Earlier this year i chilled with brad ebert and hartlett and theres lots of hotties, so its not a scummy place just a bit too small.

**** red square.

Apple isnt that good on saturday, have to dress fairly well but on thursdays it goes off although its full of uni student maybe not your thing kingy.

Went to zhivago a few months back, not a bad little joint, a bit too small and i'd say its a bar / club. small little d-floor and some table but thats it. Haven't been to the other two, what are they like?

Speaking of Port players I went to Hogs Breath Cafe on Sunday and saw none other than Dean Brogan lining up across the road at the Mars bar

LOL... Frequents gay bars and belts people ;).

HQ and Red Square = overhyped. I find lots of fresh 18y.o go there because they hear it is the cool place to go.

Head to the Alma...hands down best venue in Adelaide. :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu: I have also been to Winstons on Pirie a few times of late, and found that to be quite decent. :thumbsu:

Speaking of Port players I went to the Mars ber opposite Hogs Breath Cafe on Sunday and saw none other than Dean Brogan lining up behind me... he even pinched my arse <guy giggle>

Edited for accuracy :p

Seriously... not much I can offer this thread as a married, mid 30s guy. Like pubs more these days because people around me are more my age. I do prefer the club/dance type music, but a mid 30yo hanging out in those clubs isn't a good look.

Meh: ... FTR St Pauls (Heaven's new location) has been and OFF/ON clubbing venue for ages now... so nothing real strange there mate.

Cheers

Good stuff, apparently it's been packed and line ups are ridiculous so I'll probably hold off before I check it out.

I think lards mentioned Thursday night has some fantastic places open, it is becoming the best night to head out. Marble Bar is great on a Thursday, all the scum are at home, so it's a safer.

Has anyone checked out Catalyst at the Bridgeway Hotel? I must admit I had a decent giggle when I heard a club was opening up there but I'm fairly curious to see what it's like.

The Gully is my local, used to be quite good on a Friday night, now it's filthy. It's not a good thing seeing girls from your high school who you know are still in year 10/11 around that joint.

Most likely the scum are at Catalyst, not home

I've heard Apple was shit, so never bothered checking it out.

I'm mid 20s, so haven't been to the Dog'n'Duck, but if I was under 21, that place looks like paradise.

Red Square I don't rate, never have.

I don't mind Clubs or Pubs, but what would you class a place like Zhivago or Lotus or CasaBlaBla as? Bars?

casa bla bla is great
love sitting in the beer garden and having a drink. regularly have african bongo players and dancing gypsies (or whatever they are) there.

Lavish is shit - I went there, the place was dirty as hell. The floor was actually wet for long periods of times so it was like dancing on ice. The toliets are upstairs which is really inconvenient - especially if your a girl (gf fell on the stairs). Creepy Asian guys were trying to grind on my gf ....

Ill never go there again personally. As an Asian myself that place as a rep for being a pretty seedy place as well ....

the asian clubs dont have very good reps to them
buddah was the worst imo, only went there once, overcrowded PoS that place was. i try and stick to cocktail bars and places like casa bla bla now.
