West AdelaideI've looked everywhere ....even on the Adelaide oval site that has everything, but the answer to my question.
What will be the new oval dimensions (not fence to fence) of the Adelaide oval development
Football park was developed with the view of matching as close as possible the MCG ....where the GF is played
Adelaide oval currently has weird dimensions and i am hoping they are planning to alter the playing dimensions so it doesn't become an issue down the track
Current Adelaide Oval dimensions are 190 x 125 fence to fence ....taking off 10mtrs at the ends and 6mtrs off each side for the playing dimension ....we're left with
Adelaide Oval: 170 x 113
Football Park: 165 x 133
MCG: 160 x 141
Etihad: 159.5 x 128.8
still seems very narrow and i haven't been able to find the new dimension?? .....can anyone help?

Home ground advantage must remain for Crows and Power
The new Adelaide Oval - like the planned new AFL ground for West Coast and Fremantle in Perth - was expected to be a replica of the MCG.

The theory being if the Crows and Power are to win an AFL premiership again, they would have to win the grand final on the very wide MCG - and so it is best to be conditioned to that ground at home.
But the final reshape of the once long and narrow rectangular Adelaide Oval (with its infamous square pockets) is closer to the dimensions of the indoor Etihad Stadium in Melbourne's Docklands than the MCG.
The new Oval also is longer than both Etihad and the MCG - and narrower than both Melbourne venues.
"I would expect stoppages to go from mid-80s to mid-90s - and a more physical game," said Richardson. Bailey expects the stoppages to increase even further if there is a repeat of this year's wet winter in Adelaide.

MEASUREMENTS
ADELAIDE OVAL: 167m x 124m
AAMI STADIUM: 165m x 133m
ETIHAD STADIUM: 159.5m x 128.8m
MCG: 160m x 141m

West AdelaideI agree .......but we'll struggle on the MCGI think this will help some of our inside "one-paced" midfielders next season and I wouldn't be surprised to see us win most of our games there next year. Thompson, Wright, Crouch, VB, Lyons, Grigg will love playing at this ground. And then the outside run will be good as when you get out of the pack there will be a lot of room to run down the wings. Mackay might actually improve next season!
I was literally thinking about this yesterday. Considering that we're used to playing at AAMI you'd think we'd want AO to be similar in size so we have minimal 'getting used to a new home ground' problems in the first couple of seasons.
West Adelaide**** that. Our record at AAMI is abysmal at the moment. I'd rather they make the new Adelaide Oval as close to the MCG as possible. Maybe if we get used to playing on that type of ground we won't suck as much playing in Melbourne.
haven't you read the article?
Adelaide oval NOTHING like MCG
West AdelaideYes I read the article.
Did you read my post? I said I'd rather it be similar to the MCG. That's my preference.
Looks like they are going in a different direction though. Hopefully it works out for the best.
......how about commenting on the known dimensions rather than fanciful bullshitLook I think winning more games will be a good thingI agree .......but we'll struggle on the MCG
That o'l "good in the home & away season" ......"bad finals team" will resurface!

West AdelaideYep so you're just happy to make it to the GF .....and you won't complain that the reason is the HUGE difference in ground dimensions?Look I think winning more games will be a good thing
You have to get to the Grand Final to win a premiership. You never know, a PF at home might see us make it for once.
as if its changeable now......how about commenting on the known dimensions rather than fanciful bullshit
West AdelaideOkay fine. I think the Crows future success is dependant on whether they play good footy. The size of the ground has nothing to do with it. The best teams can win on any ground. So any comments or arguments about the dimensions of the new oval seem pretty ******* pointless to me.
Is that good enough for you?
That tells me you know S'''t about football team structures ......now piss off
Geelong play on a narrow ground with massive home ground advantage. Go alright on the MCG too.
The different ground size of the MCG compared to their home grounds is the reason that Sydney, West Coast and Geelong have had no success in grand finals.Yep so you're just happy to make it to the GF .....and you won't complain that the reason is the HUGE difference in ground dimensions?
Why don't i believe you
Finally an answer to one of this grounds most important questions
http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport...-crows-and-power/story-fnia3v71-1226698738599
Even then Rucci stuffed up the dimension comparisons
IMHO ......we'll be talking about this in years to come as a hindrance to winning a flag
Going from 12 game a year on a narrow ground to playing on the MCG with an extra 17 mtrs of width requires a different gameplan!!
So we make it hard to play at Adelaide oval for opposition teams ......and this doesn't work against us in reverse on the MCG ......give me a break & the wrong decision![]()
