I remember being sceptical after the Fooeys concert a few months before the AFL season when it was just hell trying to get out, but the public transport I guess has a lot to do with it.

It's so much better than being stuck on West Lakes Blvd for an hour before and after the match. Has made attending games from the country exponentially easier.

That footbridge after a game though…

Be nice once it's finished.

Move the scoreboard to KRO, chop down a couple trees, replicate the southern stand at the northern end. The hill is great for cricket, crap for watching footy in the middle of winter.

Was a sweet deal for SACA and cricket in general - removed all their debt and only pay for upkeep for half a year.

Was a sweet deal for SANFL, able to sell off AO and get their cut from the 2 AFL playing at AO clubs forever. Why??

Was a disgraceful deal from the Labor government who were desperate to look after Port Powah.

Was a crap deal for the AFC, now we're left with the worst stadium deal in the country.
Went to a couple of bigbash games and sat on the hill, way over rated, I get the romance and the unique look of the hill but it's a crap spot to watch anything, give me a seat in the stands over the hill any day.

If you believe that, you’d believe in fairies in the bottom of the garden.

We all love AO, but let’s not pretend the redevelopment was for the people of SA.

It was a cynical political decision commissioned to save Port Adelaide from dying, and in the process it killed off any possibility of a brand new stadium like the one Western Australians got.

Nail. Hammer. Head. Let's not pretend this would have happened if it wasn't done to save Port.

I have seen this opinion from plenty of people. It seems truly insane to me.

Port was really the stakeholder that was rescued. It was a compromise for every stakeholder, except them. They were extinct without that move.

I have no doubt they were trading insolvent at one stage

One of the issues with AO comes from information for those that have mobility issues like myself,
The stadium management
Ticketing and even when a few months ago I wanted to pay the money and stay in the hotel onsite
How do I get from the East to West Stand ?
No one could answer this
No one
So I come down from Darwin but will miss the St K match on site

I reckon it gets more popular the more time goes on. Probably wasn’t that popular ten years ago, but the AO novelty has worn off and people start to make comparisons to other, superior stadiums.

No and would be pointless having each one empty for over 6 months each year. Upgrading Adelaide oval was undoubtedly the correct decision for both cricket and football and also the state.

I mean on face value that makes sense, but if you have that mentality you’d never have more than one stadium in any Australian city.

Agree about the money though. Every year we hear about Marvel and MCG freezing ticket and food prices, while the SMA here is like "Oh you better believe we're upping prices again." It's becoming a costly day out.

I thought it would be good having the SMA run the ground as opposed to an independent operator like AEG Ogden or Live Nation because it would be football/cricket people running it so they’d keep things like food/drink prices in check.

Turns out the SMA are just as bad, if not worse!

Horrible organization

There will come a time that it will need another upgrade.... i look at that NW corner and would love to see another stand go up.. halve the Hill and put up another stand

Deadly serious. It’s way better than Docklands, and way better than the MCG (with the possible exception of when the MCG has 80k plus, altho a full AO is amazing). I genuinely think ppl don’t appreciate what an amazing stadium it is.

Which stadiums do you think are better?
Agree, if the mcg only held 70k it wouldn’t be seen in the light it is.
