Can we expect the normal highway as usual?
Hopefully their new curator may have a bit more imagination and leave some moisture and some grass on it otherwise a 5 day batathon is awaiting us.

he'll be under strict instructions for the test to go 5 days after the 3 and 4 day tests.

I'm expecting an absolute road.

How can you argue Adelaide is generally not a road. I guarantee you it has more 500+ scores in the past 20 years than any other Australian ground.

and yet still results in 9/10 tests.

a "5 day batathon" as per the OP it simply isn't. bit of a pig to bat on days 4-5 tbh. and how did we go batting day 1 just last year?

its a result pitch which goes the distance. what more do you want? shits me when tests are over in 2 1/2 days. you pay for your mistakes at adelaide. 5 days of hard test cricket

seems if its not microwave cricket it hurts some peoples' attention spans

I think you will find and happy to be corrected if I am wrong that remove Warne and Macgill out of the aussie side last 20 years there probably would have been many many draws.

3 in the last 20 years, 11 in the last 30 years.

How anyone can dispute the pitch is not a highway is beyond me. The funny part is there is no reason for it, Adelaide should have no problems with grass and water.

Mate any pitch when an opening batsman can have zero fear of the ball doing anything is not a good pitch.

The reason we have had great cricket this summer is not because we have been winning but because the pitches have been prepared for a contest between bat and ball.

May as well put a bowling machine at each end in Adelaide. Hey each to their own but the first day of a test match should seriously favour the quick bowlers. It should be a TEST for the batsman and as we are seeing way to often the last 20 years the batsman have had very few tests and therefore are all struggling with the ball moving a little now.

If you wish to watch a 5 day bat-a-thon where the batsman for the most part get out only by their mistakes then good for you. I want to see the first day of a test match where the batsman are fighting for their lives.

You can argue about the lack of draws, but seriously, how many of those games were because of declarations and because Australia were so strong on the bowling front? I can barely recall a pitch which offered something for the fast bowlers for more than 5 overs. That is not a good pitch.

The first day offers something for the pacemen, it always has. It rewards bowlers and batsmen. It isn't one way or the other, thats what makes it a quality pitch. People just want to have a bitch about anything these days.

did you watch the adelaide test last year? don't need to look any further to put to rest your theory that opening bats have nothing to fear

no point bringing up the draws in the 80s. everyone knows the square had come to the end of its life and needed relaying. hence it being relaid in 1990 since which it has been one of the premier result pitches in the country. both bat and ball are favoured at different times. "5 day batathon" is strong nonsense

Must be why all the cricketers hate playing here.... oh, wait.... If you want a game that will last the actual 5 days and get a result, watch the Adelaide Test, otherwise just watch a T20 for christ sakes if you want a quick result.

Will certainly be a lot more entertaining for both batter and bowler than the Sydney Test.
