At the same time, 5-10 years olds are getting into footy, and don't remember the SANFL as a decent competition. Either build up this image of class, history, elusiveness, but don't mention the fact that everyone hated you. Or, just rebrand into the SA Power. Either way, the days of only supporting the SANFL Magpies are slowly dying out.

Sounds like an electrical company.

they're down and out because people would rather not spend their money watching their team lose badly live for a few years.
They'll be fine once performance picks up/some of their good youngsters start to blossom a bit. Adelaide Oval will help as well

Be good if they could get a relevant nickname. No one really associates with 'Power'.

Pity the only alternative to Magpie is apparently 'Piping Shrike' o_O

I expect we'll see the dumping of the Power moniker with the club simply being known as Port Adelaide once the Reserves thing happens. A new logo would help too, the current one has been around forever and is rather generic.

Footy junkie....i like it! Now before all you Port fans jump down my throat and have me hung, drawn and quartered think about it for a minute. Where exactly are Port Adelaide right now?
They virtually had to go begging for a coach (luckily for them they got the right man)
They are losing players to free agency, they are at rock bottom right now, but will move to the Adelaide oval in 2014 in what could be seen as a resurrection for this football club.
Re- brand and re- name opportunity beckons! Re-establishment awaits![/quote Please explain the begging for a coach bit

Its called tradition.

The origins of this football club should be a marketing dream in itself. The shame has been the blurring of the lines from many different influences (sanfl/afl at times).

Look back at nearly a century ago. The "Champions Of Australia".

This is Port Adelaide. :thumbsu:

How about the Port Panthers (instead of power)? They can have an all black kit or black with white trimmings (PAFC written in white). Add to the cat teams, there are a few bird teams already.

If anything, PAFC should drop the 'Power' moniker. Call themselves, simply, Port Adelaide FC. Blur the lines between the SANFL and AFL sides, and push that idea of one club.
Will never happen. The AFL will want them to have some bullshit mascot, nickname merchandise and what have you, ect. to market

Or you could leave alone all the reactionary bullshit. Every club gets into dire straits every now and then. They'll work themselves out

cats .The softest most useless domesticated animal known to man.
When turning feral they become the ruiniation of the ecology.
All cats should be wiped out.

The felids are a rapidly evolving family of mammals that share a common ancestor only 10–15 million years ago,[26] and include, in addition to the domestic cat, lions, tigers, cougars, and many others. Within this family, domestic cats (Felis catus) are part of the genus Felis, which is a group of small cats containing approximately seven species (depending upon classification scheme).[1][27] Members of the genus are found worldwide and include the jungle cat (Felis chaus) of southeast Asia, European wildcat (F. silvestris silvestris), African wildcat (F. s. lybica), the Chinese mountain cat (F. bieti), and the Arabian sand cat (F. margarita), among others.[28]

Cats in Australia: More than 18 million ferals according to the New South Wales Game Council plus 2.65 million owned cats according to Wildlife Extra
You better get cracking, that's a lot of Cats to you have to get rid of?

The troll is strong in this one.

They will live or die by what they are at present, take away the Port Adelaide & they might as well fold now & put themselves out of misery.

One of PA biggest mistakes was marketing themselves as the Port Power in their early years of AFL.

State of authority or influence: power

mathematical exponent: power

Ok, for the purposes of trolling it's useless, the real problem is the ambiguity and the lack of ring when stated in isolation (hence 'port'). TBH the other names aren't much chop either. Needs more australian wildlife ala 'wombats' for the lulz.
