This thread is devoted to returning the game to Adelaide where it belongs. I'm afraid that the NATIONAL Rugby League (NRL) seems to be stuck on the east coast, so we should do 'em a favaour and get some clubs out west!

Who is with me!

(taking the **** BTW :p )

it has been tried, and it failed completely. though the idiots running the game could not have picked a worse time to promote the game nationally. it wont work a second time IMO, people in adelaide remember the farce, and to be quite honest, league was the laughing stock of all the non traditional states during that super league era. try again in 20 years perhaps

I would love to see the Rams return to the NRL and also the Western Reds........and I can't see why they could not gather interest again in rugby league up there.

Perhaps put up a team in WA first.....could one of the Sydney teams play their home games in both Sydney and Perth, or something similar to the Brisbane Lions, where they could have support in 2 states.

Just a thought.....

Anyway, I would be more than happy to see both WA and SA being part of the NRL again......they deserve a fair chance this time......and with Foxtel getting into more and more homes, rugby league is being exposed to AFL supporters.....whereas in the past, here in Melb./Adel/Perth/Hobart......all we got on tv screens was afl.......other footy codes were barely exposed to the population.

:D

it would've worked if there was no SL. SL screwed it up, teams in townsville, auckland, perth and se queensland were getting great crowds in 95 b4 sl. Without it, the ARL would've gone into Adelaide at some future point, as well as Melbourne, and made it a truly national comp.

Curse SL!

And bring back the rams, i used to love watching them playing at hindmarsh stadium :)

Most South Aussies are pretty well resigned to never having a team here again......it's a shame really. Numbers were starting to pick up in the local league when the Rams were here but now it's all falling apart again........

That's a real shame......
Have you written or emailed the NRL with your concerns....I know that it might seem pointless to you, but you never know, these emails and letters can be filed away in the *important* box for future reference.....give it a go.

I never give up on anything;)

CheersBut do you want to know what really ****s me more than anything living here in Melb.......

Its the complete ignorance of the media and radio/tv stations, where it just seems that if you bring up rugby league or union, as a topic, they won't let you air your views......
Truly, no wonder I have all these conspiracy theories bottled up inside of me.

Thankfully, here in Melb. we have a couple of radio commentators that are starting to give out the scores of other footy codes, and make some small talk on rugby league....but the others are blatantly rude to you ....... it just seems like they are told not too......which I know happens at one particular radio station in Melb. that is completely devoted to afl......

I've emailed & written to them from time to time. They used to reply that there was nothing they could do. And funnily enough, since the Rams were killed off they don't even bother with that....

Penny..

Pls. don't give up.....perhaps further down the track something might happen.....at least stay interested in rugby league, but it does make it hard when there is no team in town.....

We have a team here in Melbourne (thank God), but as you may have gathered there are many who want it killed off.......some people are absolutely pathetic.

I suppose you followed the Rams....and do you now follow the Crows or Port in the afl?

I now call the Power my adopted AFL team, but that's as far as my interest in AFL goes - other than absolutely detesting McGuire of course! ;)

I try and stay interested in league...but I haven't watched it since SOO3....I get a bit sick of seeing someone elses team lose.....

Penny

Noted you hate McGuire....most afl fans in Melb. hate him.....(funnily enough I think he's been great for Collingwood and has got to get the *President of the Year* award.:p ...he does seem to have a finger in every *pie* however;)

Just going back to your interest in rugby league......do you have foxtell that you can keep up your interest......because I know rugby league in Adelaide would be on fta tv in the wee small hrs. of the morning, if at all.

Maybe you can adopt the Storm......just down the highway;) from Adelaide until a team comes back to Adelaide.:p
I really do think, you have to have a team, to keep the rugby league blood running thru your veins.

Got a good suggestion.....shift to Melbourne/Sydney/Brisbane/Canberra or NZ;)

Just come to me for advice anytime Penny:p

Cheers

Yes it sucks the Rams are gone :(

I know alot of people that would go and see an Adelaide based team in the NRL, but I think the chances of anything like that happening are slim.

The SA government should get their act together, and see the positive influence the Storm have had in a non League state.

We already have a home ground, with no one playing there at all in the near future. Re-name it Rugby Park.... get a team going... it is bound to be a success now that stupid Super League is gone.

If the government are crying that no one will be using Hindmarsh, and that its been a total bust since re-development, then possibly this is an option.

BRING BACK LEAGUE IN ADELAIDE!

Ms.Storm

I've thought about getting Foxtel...but then I couldn't be bothered paying to watch other people's teams. Maybe it would be different if I had a team to follow.

As for the Storm, as horrible as it sounds it comes down to this: Me - South Australian; Storm - Victorian! ;) I just couldn't!! Although I do have a Storm phone cover, but that's mostly cos I like purple....

When I first followed league I followed the Bears and after losing both the Bears and the Rams, it's just too hard. I don't want to go through all that a 3rd time!!!!

King Crow

With the latest rumours that the Force are going to abandon Hindmarsh Stadium, I agree the government ought to get off their butts get league back in town. (Especially now that I work a block away from the stadium!!! ;) )

MoffOnTou

After all the dummy spits between SACA and the Rams, Hindmarsh would be the only option....

Joffa

Point 1 - It was accidental. Would u purposely go smash your head into someone elses?? (unless your a soccer thug who doesn't mind liverpool kisses).

Really, you are pretty funny. Your posts are ill-informed, trashy and very biased. I mean, your rugby league insult book consists of 3 insults. You dont reply to threads where you have been proven wrong and really, your a bit of a yawn.

But keep it up, your making a lot of people laugh
