I really wonder why Sarge wasn't selected. Especially considering how well he trained yesterday ... very strange.
There is either something going on between him and Ayres or that AFC want him to get a good game in SANFL before brining him in.

Hopefully Sarge plays very well with the Roosers and gets back into the side next week.

Why is Bock an emergency? Didn't think he was setting the world on fire for the Eagles. Also, should have a tall as an emergency & he is more of a flanker.

AFC site states that Bock is 193 cm. He is tall enough to play KPP, but he needs more muscle. Probably suited to a role as third tall (flank/pocket) in attack if need be.

Despite reports from Sunday Mail and Eagles fans on Bigfooty that his game last week wasnt that flash, Eagles website lists Bock as their best player.

Sensible questions, Kane.

The answer is that we are dealing with Gary Ayres here.

And Neil Craig Darren Jarman Mark Mickan and John Reid

Remember its a match committee and the coach is not the only voice though he would have the main say.

I bet half of your Ayres bashers will be on Neil Craig for the job yet he is part of the same decision making process.

IMO Neil Craig should not get our coaching position if it becomes available for that very reason. He is part of the current establishment that is responsible for what we see today. He may be a fitness guru but that does not make him an effective senior coach.

The only thing that we don't know as outsiders is what Neil Craig actually thinks of the decisions that are made. At the end of the day all decisions are either made or agreed to by the senior coach. Neil Craig may be thoroughly p*ssed off with what he sees and has a different strategy that he would like to employ but can't.

Beautifully summed up Fergus.

For all the reasons you've outlined above I don't want Neil Craig as our next coach either, contrary to Jars458's comments.

However, one thing can't be overlooked. The senior coach is the one that has to wear it, be it praise or criticism.

Footy is a business just as much as the business I work in.

I always consult with my managers and appreciate their input when decisions have to be made. BUT the final decision is mine, and rest assured, the buck stops with me. As it should, or there'd be no such thing as accountability.

Ayres is just as accountable - the buck stops with him.

Spot on.

I think Craig has a lot to offer to AFC but NOT as a head coach.

Ayres has the final say on every issue and the buck stops with him and rightly so.
